    New Discoveries

New Discoveries is just what it says. If you discover something new in an Insider Build, post it. It may or may not be brand new, but by the same token, there will always be those who haven't seen or heard of it yet.

No real rules, but if you please, maybe follow this format?

Build 14328 - Replace Command Prompt with Windows PowerShell:

Right-Click Taskbar>click Settings and turn on "Replace Command Prompt with Windows PowerShell in the menu when I right-click the start button or press Windows key+X"

    Since build 14328.

Time and calendar in taskbar area - when you click on it, it shows agenda. When you click on a day, agenda for that day is presented. Agenda is linked to Calendar app.

You can also add appointment to selected day, clicking on +.

It also answer my questions, why was there a mark around selected date in previous builds and nothing you were able to do with it.

Since build 14328 (as far as I can tell) you can change proofing language for spell checker in Windows (modern) apps like mail etc.
This is done by changing input localization (not only language but also keyboard). You can do this by clicking language icon on taskbar or pressing WIN+space or Alt+Shift in my case. Second picture shows text in Mail app, partly in English and another part is typed with Slovenian keyboard in Slovene. First word is typed in Slovene but with English keyboard selected.

    - no longer jump list arrows on the Start Menu but right click does the trick
    - apparently desktop icons will now reside on the 'bottom row' at 100% dpi
    - Cortana can do a whack of things from the Lock Screen via tap/click or "Hey, Cortana"
    - 'cutting' pertinent shortcuts from folders and pasting them in the parent 'Start' directory, then 'hiding' the rest of the 'junk'/folders, makes the Start Menu less messy

You will now find icons along the bottom left edge of the Start menu rather then text items for the Power, Settings, user account logged into during the current session etc. as well as a couple of items now moved into the right click on Start button's context menu as seen in the capture from the new VM. Besides the dark theme see if you notice any other changes in the Apps & Features which does appear to have seen something different there as well.

Had to grab a second snipping to illustrate the change as far the Power, Settings, File Explorer, Network, and User account icons now seen on the bottom left side of the Start menu.

Since Start10 uses the Modern without tiles I could grab a comparison look at the more recent Start menu as far as the traditional look and now you see the touchscreen capable change as more things are made touchscreen compliant over time. I suspect to see a few more changes like these by the time the Redstone 1 arrives since MS will want everything premo for the Paid for Now form of 10!

    New Bugs in start menu:

opening an apps folder will overlay another app in the menu, and the folder entry won't open:

Neosmart Technologies folder opened, EasyBCD appears over News - can open News, not EasyBCD

Noticed that one. On the other hand, opening the second folder, closes the first. Which is improvement.

@Wynona and rest. Will we discuss bugs here, or only something new - positive?

Since we are discussing bugs in announcement thread.

    Hi,

Same problem here with the start menu when doing an upgrade install. Along with some other oddities like Macrium showing odd transfer rates during backup etc.
I then decided to do a clean install and the problems (not all of them) are gone.

I do come across some DCom errors related to Insider Preview which I have no clue how to fix since they share the same CLSid and AppID keys but Eventviewer points to different applets etc.

Since the clean install Insider Preview became much snappier and responsive. No idea what caused it. it's the first time I did a clean install of a preview edition since I never experienced such problems in the past.

    Cheers,

There is a good overview of new features here:

Windows 10 build 14328 brings updated Start menu, Windows Ink, and a slew of new features Pureinfotech

    and new issues:

Windows 10 build 14328: Fixes and known issues Pureinfotech

Something I haven't tried or seen before is cmd elevated which apparently opens an elevated CMD prompt - but does not evoke the (new) UAC UI dialog - which is strange.

Wow, this thread is turning into much more than I envisioned! Wonderful!

And here's an Ed Bott article in ZDNet that is of much interest to us:
