Sound is going to be a killer for me. Can't find my Realtec on board sound.
My Realtek onboard sound works just fine. Maybe go to the Realtek site and download the latest driver from there. The one that comes with Windows doesn't seem quite as good, so I install the one from Realtek sooner or later. But the Windows one has always worked for me, albeit with some crackling/popping from time to time...

Tried that last night, gets past 90% and hangs. Sat there overnight.

Even tried to do it in safe mode. That didn't work either. Keyboard wouldn't work on my laptop in safe mode. I'll try it again in a few days.

What's your computer brand? Mine's an HP laptop and as we all know, HP's the absolute worst for installing drivers on a beta OS.

I went to hp.com>support>download drivers. Once there, I plugged in my machine ID and told it my OS is 8.1. So then I looked for the audio driver (all by itself and it's Realtec) and chose download rather than download and install, and saved to my HP Drivers folder as Audiospxxxxx.

So now I click on the driver and things do exactly like my sneaky self planned.

I also did this for my HP Officejet 7610 wide format printer. I don't know why, but if I tell it I have 8.1 installed, download only the actual driver for the device and then install from the folder I saved it in, it works.

9926 works great. 10041... not so much.

    Hi there

How do you do that -- I can't get rid of it.

    Cheers

Jimbo, right click the taskbar, hover over search and click "Disabled". It gets rid of it off the taskbar, but not off Start. However, since the only time I go to Start, I'm only looking for something there, Search doesn't really get in the way. Of course, this depends on whether you have icons on the desktop or not. And . . . Start will cover up your icons anyway. :)

I had a blank spot too. Turned out to be the Windows Defender icon, which is wireframe white, so it blended in to the white background. They really need to make the background dark there.

OneDrive and safely eject show up fine though.
Yeah, same here, blank spot for windows defender icon.

    Workaround if its annoying:
    Went into taskbar properties->Customize
Scrolled down to windows defender and changed it to "show icons and notifications". It shows up in taskbar now and removed from "hidden icons".

    Hi there

another mega bug -- Show hidden Icon doesn't work (bottom right of screen) -- now if you have things like servers / system tasks which run in the background and you need to start them manually or change parameters etc - media servers like mezzmo for example or eject USB devices then you can't do it.

This is a MEGA fail also. Haven't tried this yet on a CLEAN install.

    Cheers

I had this problem as well. A workaround that worked for me is to disable "auto hide taskbar" in the taskbar properties. After doing this the "show hidden icons" windows magically reappears. Not a great workaround if you like using an auto hide taskbar but it works nonetheless...

    Hi there

Not working -- so I just display all system icons on taskbar as a get around.

For some reason, updated version works better than the clean install for me
