Windows 10 Insider Preview 14291. Wont complete install.

    Hi

I am trying to upgade to the latest "fast" build. Windows 10 Insider Preview 14291. Everything goes well until the install starts. the % wheel does its thing and then goes for one of several restarts. I then get a blank (black) screen flashing on my laptop. My external monitor isn't getting a signal. After 10 minutes of this I give in and power cycle the laptop. It then comes up with a "restoring previous version of windows and everything works as previously.

I have Norton installed... is that screwing with it or is it something else?

Same here. I have been unable to install last two builds - 14279 and 14291 - because of UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP. I wonder if anyone at Microsoft is looking into these issues.

    I have the same problem.

My antivirus is Windows Defender, then it probably has nothing to do with Norton.

Remove Gamepad before install, it is broken in this build, recommend staying on previous build until Microsoft fix. Hope that helps. Vince

Thanks for some hints. I don't have gamepad and I just checked region/language. Everything checks. For good measures, I also deleted almost everything not being used from my "Programs and Features". I also resolved almost all the errors/warnings from my event logs. I am not sure what else to do.

It happened to me in two of the previous builds, all you can do is stay with the current build and send feedback stating your issue, hopefully the next build will install without any problem.

Sorry that did not help it did for me, but im reverting back due to the fact as soon as i plugin gamepad system crashes. Other sugestion i have is to download ESD from this link http://winphonehub.org/news-leaks/wi.../#.Vu4cOqkrJ3M then download esd decrypter from same link make sure you use the one with the fixed boot near bottom of page. Use this link for tutorial ESD to ISO - Create Bootable ISO from Windows 10 ESD File which will convert to iso burn to either usb or dvd and upgrade or do fresh install. Hope that helps. Vince

I meant "No joy" as in no luck, not no Gamepad
