Not a direct response to post #9 but I did try to upgrade using the Win 10 RTM image. I am on build 14271 and it only gave me the option to do a complete install (i.e., no upgrade option). Doing a complete install of Win10 and installing other apps is going to be too time-consuming. I have decided to wait for the next insider build and hope it installs without the UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP :-(
You guys are great, I disconnected the Gamepad and Windows 10 Insider Preview build 14291 installed correctly. As many of you had the flashing screen after about 75% process was done it would fail. I have a Lenovo desktop and thought that it was related to that PC maker. But after disconnecting the Gamepad it worked. Shame on Microsoft for not testing its own products with this build. Now we need a hotfix on game controllers. Thanks for the help with this. Rick L
So the white flashing screen of nooblet-ism is caused by.... game controllers *shakes head* c'mon M$ really ?
I too unplugged and it installed. Ironically I am using a logitech F710 which has an Xbox 360 mode.....
Ah wait a minute, not good, it wont detect my 2nd display not good, might have to roll back.
Make sure to turn off the P2P option in "Choose how updates are delivered" in the "Advanced Options under Settings. I had the same problem until I turned it off. Once turned off, the update re-downloads and it should work.
Got it installed but Gamepad no worky as others have said

LOL. I unplugged my xbox360 game controller, and the install finally went fine.... thanks for the tip.
