    Incorrrect Build Number on Screeen

I've just downloaded the ISO for the January release of Windows 10 and installed it. The build number at the lower right hand corner of the screen still shows 9879. Did I do something wrong and should I be concerned?

    Thank you.

It should be 9926 and not 9879. Make sure you downloaded the latest build.

    Thank you.

Yes, I am a sure as I can be I downloaded the correct iso and burned it to a flash drive. I failed to mention I installed it over my existing 9879. Could that be the problem?

    Thanks again.

Try to perform a clean install and see if that fixes it but I don't see that as a big issue unless there are other issues.

Can you post a screenshot of the Start Menu? That is where the obvious difference is.

    Good suggestion, Jeff.

I did an clean install and the proper build number showed up. I then carried your suggestion a step farther. I restored the ssd to its original Win 7 configuration and then ran setup from the flash drive. Lo and behold all my apps and setting came up under Win 10 with the proper number.

    Thanks again for your help.

A clean install did the trick
