Had no problems with this before the update, but it simply stops working.

    Attachment 11054

    Nothing to say whats amiss!
The same thing happened to me WightWalker and the post below is how I fixed it, Also I haven't tried Trashzone's solution below my post.

    New Build IE 11 crashes
That also happened to me, on my laptop I think. It was working and then after a couple of reboots it just stopped working. I couldn't open any sites. I've since duped 10 on that PC and gone back to 8.1. Not just because of that though. It was the finale straw though.
be patient ,reinstall it, its new, sit back and have little nip ,and enjoy

I'm going to wait a little while for now. I had video driver issues too, on my laptop.

Hi folks! How do I get rid of this annoying dropbox pop-up message? I am not interested with Dropbox at all. Thanks!

Edit: Ooops sorry. I think I got it. I opened msconfig and disabled OneDrive. I hope that will do.

It sure does something. With the last build, every time I booted into 10, everything was fine. Every single time I booted into 7 after that it wanted to run check disk on every drive I had. It did it every time. Once it was finished it never wanted to run check disk again until I booted into 10, then the same routine. If this one does the same thing, it won't live long.
    Steve,

This is happening to me now too.

I have W7 and W10TP on separate physical HDs. I'm getting blue screen with CHKDSK at every reboot/shutdown. I've been transfering MS Outlook PST files back/forth on 9879 with no issue. Today, it appears that a PST file was corrupt and for a time I lost a months worth of emails because the MS Outlook in W7 wouldn't open!

My Toshiba laptop has Intel graphics.
    In Windows 7:
    • The graphics control panel has a splash screen saying something like, "Great for monitors and TVs" (it has no TV settings at all!)
    • It is supposed to output "1366x768", but the TV doesn't recognise the signal
    • There are no adjustments that I can find to make it output a signal the TV recognises
Your TV manufacturer may have a driver for Windows that specifies the modelines. Did you check the manufacturers support site?
No I haven't (I assumed that the laptop Intel graphics driver was in charge).

When I installed W7 I was offered an Intel graphics driver update, which I installed.
It hasn't offered any updates since and asking W7 to check for new versions results in the "Windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date" message.

    Thanks for the suggestion. :)

The TV does have an update firmware option, but there don't seem to be any updates (or the update system doesn't exist in Australia).
I guess that it is supposed to receive them from the aether, as it has no Internet connection.
There was no mention of downloading the driver and installing it via an SD card (in the user manual).

Since my friend was able to "bludgeon" LM 17.1 into (sort of) complying with our wishes, I haven't spent any time trying to force W7 to comply.

In any situation some people will always winge. I'll bet if I were to go down the street chucking 20 EUR or 20 USD notes away some people would complain at me for making litter. !!!!

Have you tried turning off Fast Startup to see if it helps? Same as for Fast Startup - Turn On or Off in Windows 8

I will try that. BTW, I cannot change the value in the control panel -> power setting's - it won't let me. I am trying it wit the registry change,

Update: That seemed to cure it. Tried two shutdown boots (was only happening with shutdown with me). Will report back if it occurs again.

    Thanks.

Did that right after making W7 the default OS after I updated. Yes, I updated to 9926 because 9879 was an update install as well.

I'm referring to Monitor driver, not Display driver. Typically Windows auto-detects what the monitor can support, but not all monitors are fully honest with this information and they require a "driver", it's really just a text file with modeline settings from the manufacturer.

So I downloaded the 64 bit image the other night and threw in into a VM, still again, can't get into my Microsoft Account nor really update the build, but this build is vastly more improved than the Technical Preview so I'll be setting it up on my system soon.

For some reason, I feel like some aesthetics of mac os are subtly here and there. Maybe I'm just losing it...

I'm liking the newer animations, they're MUCH more smoother than ever before, quite nice! The notification center.....seems like it could use some more work. Personally, I'd rather have the notification tray be merged with the center so all the hidden icons in the tray are present. Seems like it should be obvious to do that, at least to me.

I'm also liking the newer Start Screen for sure! It's what I wanted to have seen back in Windows 8 Developer Preview, all the proper and familiar Start menu items should have been on the Start Screen from the get-go. NOT liking All Apps, AT ALL. This goes back to square one to Windows 7's All Programs menu, HUGE HUGE MAJOR STEP BACK! The folder hierarchy system is just drab looking and just isn't very functional. A better route would have been to have kept parts of how it is in 8.1.1 where everything is exposed in the list. Basically, have all the main folders show their contents as you scroll down. Even more annoying, it's similar to the All Apps list on Windows Phone, but doesn't have the jumplist available. They could really size up the font a bit too in All Apps.

DEFINITELY liking how PC Settings is coming along! Thank goodness they're making that the single go-to settings applet! So silly that they kept both Control Panel and PC Settings in Windows 8. I like the clean look, although I feel like it's too clean and needs a more metro polish to it. I'm a bit meticulous with this but I wish all the main category icons were all centered in the window, that empty space in the second row to the right....that kind of inflames the OCD a bit.

The taskbar icons seems smaller. Not too sure on that little bar on the icon when something is open, too reminiscent of mac os and its dock. Still not terribly sold on the virtual desktops and the actions on closing out virtual desktops. I still feel like when you enter Task View and you close a VD, EVERYTHING in that VD should close out as well, not just be moved into the next desktop over. It just feels like it's getting to point A to point B in a different route of the same length and time to get there, it's not accomplishing much for me.

Tablet mode...I was expecting a bit more from that. All it does is just full screen all open windows and darken the desktop background. I was expecting something like in Office 2013, tablet mode would size up items on the screen so touch targets don't need such precise input, more fuzzy input so to say. Basically, I figured it would bump up the DPI. It does not. I can probably understand why as it needs signing out of the account and signing back in, but still. Also, Win32 programs need to fall in line with WinRT apps and be borderless as well as title bar-less. They need to appear all the same.

It's nice that they let you shrink down the search/Cortana bar on the Taskbar, but when you go to the Start Screen, it expands back out over the Taskbar, it doesn't push anything aside, just sits on top of everything. That needs fixing.

The new File Explorer icons....gee willakers! They look like concept icons from Windows 2000 or something! They look too....archaic. Either EVERYTHING gets a proper metro 2.0 redesign or go home. Microsoft was the first to stop using an actual skeuomorphic folder icon to represent a directory in some of the modern apps, they need to keep going with that.

It honestly feels weird to not have the Charms bar anymore. There, I said it. It was nice on Windows 8/8.1 to use my Touch Mouse, do a two finger swipe to open up the Settings Charm on the Desktop and go to the Control Panel or Personalization that quickly and easily. Now, it's like back to using 7. Every time I've had to work on a 7 system, I feel constricted not being to do that.

Not sure how I feel about the addition of circles to the UI. I groaned quite loudly when I saw the new People app for Windows Phone and how begrudgingly similar it looks to ios 7/8's new contact card display. Not impressed.

A strange behavior I've noticed, the title bar has a full screen button that kicks it obviously full screen. Seems weird since it's not in tablet mode. The thing I'm REALLY not liking, that idiot hamburger button. Sounds disgusting to say and isn't just such a useless piece of UI. It needs to go back to the ... ellipses for the system contracts and keep either the current right click for app commands or a separate ... within the app. It feels utterly redundant to click a gross hamburger and then click again for app commands. It's like a runaround for a simple right click. You can tell it's still not a finished product by how some Charm flyouts will be like the old 8.x style and the Settings one will be the newer 10 version where it only flies out within the window and not the whole side of the screen.

All in all, it's impressive. I'm stunned with all that there is with Windows 10 for sure. It's weird to see the changes from 8 to 10 and even the overall demeanor of the product. Windows 8 had literally nothing to guide you around using it and made Start to be the new Desktop when the Desktop is what it's being used for. It was almost basically like a touch based UI layer on top of Windows 7, not that's anything wrong. Windows 10 takes those two layers and merges them down together into one cohesive UI/UX and acknowledges what the main used part of Windows is, the Desktop.
