Edit: Go to that key and see if the value for "EnablePreviewBuilds" is set to 0. If it is, change it to 1 then reboot and see if that helps.

I suddenly got same problem with 10586 but after updating to 11082 it fixed it.

I have that set to 2, guess it's for Fast ?

Someone else posted a screenshot with that value. I'm on fast with 1 so that's not it but I edited my post to indicate changing it if the value is 0.

Thanks for the feedback. I found the problem in the Registry and now back set up for Insider Previews ok.

It did for me. I decided to move my main PC onto the latest insider build and was having all sorts of problems - it just wouldn't go. I deleted all devices on all my MS accounts (and made a new account) but still no joy.

All of my VMs had updated with no issue.

That tip fixed it. I can't thank you enough - I'd rep you again 1000x if I could but a "thanks" will have to do..

For others, delete any old devices on your MS account as well as setting the reg key.

I forgot to check the internet connection! Yes Microsoft forgot to simply include Network Connection in their checks for Insider Preview build eligibility, the screens are the same with no internet. How many times I restarted before noticing flagged network connections icon is "need to know."

I used the Registry FIX in the previous posted link SOLUTION,; The last step is to redo "Get Insider Preview builds" in Windows Update. After a short wait - 2 hours? - can return to Advanced settings to set Fast or Slow Ring.
