It's nice but I do like the start menu and the tiles in it. I'm all for options and giving as many as possible when it comes to the new start menu.

Worst case I would go back to using Classic Shell. But I really would rather use the start menu that MS supplies in the new OS.

I installed 9879 and had problems. I am back to 9860. My computer is set up to have different operating systems installed on physically separate hard disk drives. With 9860 installed I could choose at boot up, using the BIOS, whether to run Windows 7, Linux, or Windows 10. After installing build 9879, by Windows 7 installation was trashed.... by Windows Technical Preview. Be careful with this one. It can't keep its hands to itself and goes out to other drives making mischief.
Luckily I had Windows 7 backed up as an image and could put it back. I also went back to build 9860. 9879 just doesn't play well with others.

I will only run this computer with Windows Technical Preview when my Windows 7 hard disk is physically unplugged from the motherboard. Then only will I feel safe.

So, I DID unplug all the HDDs except for the Windows Technical Preview Hard Disk, and then went on to update to 9879. I have a lot of the same niggling complaints like the num lock light not working, but for the most part 9879 runs well on my test machine. Installed easily and runs all the software that I could run using 9860.

It is not so convenient to plug and unplug sata connectors just to test Windows 10, but I suppose I, like others contributing here, am curious. Now I'll unplug the Windows 10 disk and plug back in the other 5 drives that happily run Windows 7 and Linux. Windows 10 cannot be trusted to play well with others.

Crude?!! Those are absolutely stunning and a refreshing change complete with shadowing! Very communicative with the icons on them and the peeping contents. I hope you copyrighted them, Edwin. Please don't give yourself away. You're very creative.

I like the ideas that are being presented here. Really, it's just making the Start Menu so you can customize it to your preference.

Continued feedback on this could get some of this into the final release.

You can tell from MS blogs etc. and subtle changes that MS is listening!
I'm pouring feedback in daily! :)

Well, thank you sir! Just a couple crude examples I whacked up in Windows Paint!
Maybe I'll draw up a whole series and put it in their face on the Windows Feedback App. Didn't learn til lately that you can include screenshots in the Feedback App.

The new folder look is not appealing and it ain't workin!
If you view folders by 'Extra Large Icons', at first glance, the title looks like it belongs to the one below:

    Still like my idea!

    build 9879-untitled.png

(btw, the folder images are © McDo Design ™,
    I just borrowed them)
