547 is a good development release - it's breaks a lot of things. That's what early drops usually do.
If you're on the fast ring, you really have to expect buggy code.
I reported feedback on some very basic things not working and was going to roll back to 532, but decided to test this bld further. That's why I am an Insider. I have to test a lot of other things, so I won't spend too much time with this bld, but I will play in the sandbox for a while.
I am running build 10547 on my one and only PC. This is the main PC of the house that contains all of my data and programs and which I use on a daily basis to perform my business and hobby tasks. It took approx. 15 minutes to install and so far it is bug free.
I think some of us have lost sight of the purpose of being a Windows Insider. It would probably do us all good to go back and read the "Before You Install" article at the beginning of the Windows Insider Program. Before you install Windows Insider Preview - Microsoft Windows
As Jeff said, "I don't think Gabe promised a bug free insider build.. ever." I would further add that he didn't promise us a rose garden either. In fact, we were all warned at the very beginning of this Program. Some highlights are listed below:
A preview for PC experts
Windows Insider Preview is here today, but it’s a long way from done. We’re going to make it faster, better, more fun at parties...you get the idea. Join the Windows Insider Program to make sure you get all the new features that are on the way. If you’re okay with a moving target and don’t want to miss out on the latest stuff, keep reading. Insider Preview could be just your thing.
Download and install the preview only if you
- Want to try out software that’s still in development and like sharing your opinion about it.
- Don’t mind lots of updates or a UI design that might change significantly over time.
- Really know your way around a PC and feel comfortable troubleshooting problems, backing up data, formatting a hard drive, installing an operating system from scratch, or restoring your old one if necessary.
- Know what an ISO file is and how to use it.
- Aren't installing it on your everyday computer.
Things to keep in mind
Unexpected PC crashes could damage or even delete your files, so you should back up everything. Some printers and other hardware might not work, and some software might not install or work correctly, including antivirus or security programs. You might also have trouble connecting to home or corporate networks.
Some installed apps might not yet work as expected or might not be available in your country or region. For example, Cortana is currently only available in English (United States), English (United Kingdom), Chinese (Simplified), German (Germany), French (France), Italian, and Spanish (Spain). To be able to use Cortana, the country or region for your system must be set to one of the available languages, and you also need to have installed that language's version of Insider Preview. In addition, the Cortana features that are available in one language might be different from those that are available in another.
Also, if your PC runs into problems, Microsoft will likely examine your system files. If the privacy of your system files is a concern, consider using a different PC. For more info, read our privacy statement.
Edge does not work in 10547. Comes up with blank page and will not go to home page until you click on the address bar. This is the only problem I have seen so far, but the way they are pushing Edge it seems to be a pretty big one.
I just opened Edge and it's working fine for me. Well . . . as fine as it can. I still cannot get it to work with Bolding. But that's another problem.
Suggestion: If you want help with Edge, you may want to open a new thread in order to get the attention you need. :) This one seems to be more of a rant on Windows 10 Build 10547 and your post will probably get lost in the melee. :)
Also, if you go to the main TenForums page and click on Browsers and Email, you can get more specific help there. Just be sure to mention that you're running Insider Build 10547.
10547 has caused issues for me too!!! desktop wont reappear properly after system is locked and I come out of locked state; I enter password and instead of the desktop I get a @$##% black screen during which I have to reboot every single time this happens which is not good because that almost corrupted my windows install!!! this build of 10547 is a total piece of !@#$ in my book as well! had to revert back to 10532 to get things back to normal. what a waste of time that was waiting for 10547 to install!!!
