    Hi celine,
If you have made some modifications to your system in the "interest of privacy", this would be one of the things that would have been deleted.

I did change some Privacy Settings since they wrote that we could change revert them later on... but then I've reactivated everything so that Microsoft has ALL the rights. Is that what you mean?

I have no idea how to get that back, except to do a clean install. I think it is not possible to remain in the Insiders Program if you disable/delete this service.

You can try the DISM tool and see if that helps (I am just guessing here):

DISM - Repair Windows 10 Image - Windows 10 Forums

If that doesn't work, then I am afraid a clean install is the only solution.

If you decide to do the clean install, please let me know and I will give you the necessary preparations, so it goes smoothly.

Can I reinstall Windows 7 over the 10 instead and then receive the final version of the 10 ?

    Hi celine,
    Thanks for the screen shots.
The "BASE" is a problem, I suspect, because you no longer have the dmwappushservice on the machine.

Can you give the link which shows the privacy settings you previously made to the computer? Perhaps we can reverse it, if we know exactly what you did. Or, if it was done recently, maybe you have a system restore point set from BEFORE the privacy changes were made?

You don't need to reinstall W7 anymore. Once W10 has been installed and activated, it can be clean installed as often as you want/need. W10 "consumes" your W7 license, and using some of your major system components, creates an activation hash, which is then stored on the MS servers. So, you can reinstall W10 any time. No key necessary.

If you don't know where the instructions are for the privacy changes that you made, then I think it's time for a clean install of W10.

You can refer to my post #23 for instructions.

Edit: I thought you said in your first post that you updated from W8.1 and not W7? Not that it makes any difference, you don't need to install either anymore - you only clean install W10 from now on.

Have you run any 3rd party tools that are supposed to disable the so-called Windows 10 privacy issues? Those tools can do any number of bad things to your registry and disable things necessary to stay in the preview program.

Also, have you run any tools like registry cleaners, or disk cleanup tools (other than the ones built into Windows)? Those too can sometimes corrupt things.

Also, older anti-virus or firewall applications might not be compatible with Windows 10 and cause any number of problems. What third party applications do you have installed?

oh shoot!!! now that you mention it, yes I did run a tool for disabling the tracking after reading lots of articles on the fact that Microsoft was collecting lots of personal information through Windows 10.

So my dog's dead here... I have to assume my mistakes.

I'll just give up Windows 10 and go back to Windows 7 and try to upgrade from there.

    Thanks for your reply Mystere.

Yes, this is what I have been saying - you can not disable these things and expect to remain in the Insider Program.

is a service which some people affectionately refer to as the MS keylogger.

I've decided to format my drive and install Windows 7 and from there I will run the Media Tool. But I would still like you to give me the necessary preparation as you put it, so I can do the easiest way to get to the final Windows 10.

It's really appreciated. Thanks a lot in advance.

Again, you don't go back - you clean install W10. Please understand that once the system is activated, you no longer go back to the old operating system. You only clean install W10.

    Here's the way it works, Celine . . .

You have already upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. That's a given.

Now, all you need to do is to clean install Windows 10 using the Media Tool. It's no longer necessary to start from Windows 7 or 8.1.

When you come to a request for a key, just skip or click on I'll do it later. That's all there is to it. And, you clean install Windows 10 exactly the same way you would clean install Windows 7 or 8.1.

Edit: Microsoft has collected your activation information from the upgrade, which is why you can now clean install Windows 10 as many times as you want (on the same machine, of course).

    Hi Wynona,

You're right it sound very simple but I don't have Win8.1 anymore... it was replaced by Win10. Is that a given anyway???

Ohhhh thanks for the "Edit"... now I understand.

Would it be best or highly recommended to format my drive first?

Thank you very much for your help.
