Windows 10 wouldn't install on a older system. I think Windows 10 solved any problems by not installing. As for doing a update to Windows 10. From what I have read the ones who had problems updating to 10 had their systems converted back to the previous OS. As for some repairs are cheaper than new system. I would never spend my money to repair a old computer. Today it might be the hard drive. Tomorrow it might be the motherboard. what about the power supply? That may be next. I'm not saying that's going to happen but it could. I would rather spend my money on a new system than wasting it on a old system. Notice I said old and not something fairly new. In the end it everybody's own choice. Any way you go something can go wrong.

I'm not meaning to 'argue' here, but just want to express my own observation about what has been said.

I have successfully installed Windows 10 TP/32bit, on PC's that in the car world might qualify as Antiques.
I've had the best luck installing on PC's with AMD cpu's and at least 2 GB of ram.

My main PC which I'm on right now, running W-10/64, was built by me in 2005, using an MSI motherboard and an AMD Athlon, 2X, 5200+ cpu and four gig's of DDR2 Ram. I've had the motherboard out twice to replace bulging capacitors, and once to fix the plastic frame around the CPU chip.
Being a true Repair Tech, I've always been in favor of fixing something rather than just throwing it away and getting something new. In so many cases, Newer is not really Better.
I have many things in my home, that someone else threw away, and I got it, fixed it and still use it today.

Back on topic:
I just yesterday installed W-10/32 on an old eMachine that was built for Windows XP Home. I got it because it was effectively Broken. I installed a new PSU, upgraded the RAM and reinstalled the OS. It ran pretty good, but I could not find the drivers for the On-Board sound, so I put a Sound Blaster card in it.
When I installed W-10, the installer found and enabled the on-board sound and all the other features.

If MS doesn't bork up Windows 10 in the final release, I see it being a breath of new life for some of our older PC's.
Whether this is intentional on MS's part or just a happenstance, I don't know, but I sure like it.
That also creates an expanded market, where MS can sell even more copies of Win-10, not only for NEW PC's, but for older ones as well. The driver package that comes with Windows 10, is Excellent! It even picked up my Epson XP-410 printer/scanner.

Hi TechnoMage. I'm glad to hear Windows 10 helped you to revive some old computers. When I installed Windows 10 and upgraded to newer builds I had three drivers that wouldn't load on my computer. The Intel Chipset driver. The PCI Simple Communication Controller and the Ralink RT 3290 Bluetooth Driver. HP was no help because they use installers that won't work in Windows 10. It took me awhile and some trial and error before I found the right drivers. Even though my computer seemed to be running OK I didn't like having those exclamation marks in device Manager. I'm sure that by the time 10 goes final the drivers will be included.

Maybe if we all say Pretty please? MS will release the next build.

5 months until the supposed RTM release... I think the time has passed for a Consumer Preview or even Release Preview? RP will probably be around March like Windows 8 but at this point there will probably not be any major changes.

well Spartan is confirmed for next build and hopefully Cortana will work in UK and other countries too

I don't think he can tell anyone ahead of time till it is actually posted on the download site. He most likely been told to it by his boss after what happened in February.
