Microsoft rolls out Windows DVD Player for Windows 10 users

Anyone with the DVD Player app can you play DVD's using Windows Media Player? I use the K-Lite Codec pack so I have to use Media Player Classic which is not bad. I did try VLC which does play DVD's fine but the picture quality is worse than WMP and MPC because there is no option for EVR.

Have to agree with you there, it should either show up as a purchased App in the Store under your account. Or be tied to the Product ID/hardware ID of the PC it was qualified for. You shouldn't lose it because you di a clean install latter on down the road.
Microsoft really wants you to pay to watch DVD's on Windows 10 that is really it. So they make it a PITA to try to get the DVD Player for free even if you have a qualifying version. Really not worth it as there are plenty of free alternatives to play DVD's in Windows 10.

Yea, VLC will play DVDs, sometimes the menus can be a bit wonky... but I use PowerDVD 15... has never let me down.

Not really, Reddice. When I tested Windows 7, a number of us earned a free copy; however, we were required to supply our own DVD reader/player software. I don't remember exactly why, but I believe it was because Microsoft had no agreement with any company for the software.
