My first post (hello everyone) - thought I'd start out with this one...

Naming/Brand recognition has its advantages and disadvantages, as we have seen with Windows over the past several decades. You mention Vista to some people and they either vomit or snarl, and mention XP and it is as though their long loved grandma just passed away. Just referring to the product as 'Windows' zaps the emotion right out of the conversation and puts it on neutral ground. W10 will always be referred to as 10, as it will be continually compared with the previous versions of Windows. Ten years on, W8 will be in Hell and W7 will be in Hades awaiting Paradise. The successor of W10 may, as many predict have descriptive names, either for development purposes, user/media ridicule and or praise or for marketing hype. Celestial naming is often preferred as these names are associated with the gods. MS is already heralding W10 as their best OS ever, so they will have a challenge ahead of them in elevating 'best' to spectacular. Features don't get cool names. Windows Classic vs Windows Bold ... NOPE ... maybe Windows OMG.

Perhaps it will cycle back to Windows 1.
