hold on hause, my asus (G751JY) laptop did to, but i still put a ssd in the optical drive bay. in fact, i have four ssd's in my computer, now. there is one in the optical drive bay, a 256g samsung, one in bay two, a 500g crucial, and two in drive bay one, the first is a 1tb 840 evo and the last one is the fastest thing on the planet right now, a sm951 samsung pcie 3 x4 500g. so never count out using the optical bay for a ssd. although it's a lot slower port , it's still faster than any hdd, and gives me a lot more function than an optical drive, which i almost never use. i still have my blueray writer, but i rarely ever throw it in there. i can hook it up as an external if i need to, but just never seem to have a need for dvd's or bd's. i travel a lot, and dvd's and bd's are heavy.

Thumbs are a much better recording medium for sure. They are smaller, faster, have thousands of times more capacity, and are more durable and reliable because they have no moving parts. Additionally, they are immune to electromagnetic interference, and are unharmed by surface scratches unlike CDs or DVDs.

Exponentially as fast as tech is innovating today, I'm surprised MS or others haven't presented this much earlier. Old tech really. 16 years old as a matter of fact.

A real good comparison, try creating a system image with Macrium Relfect's recovery disk using a DVD, then use the USB. With the USB you could drink a coffee, with the DVD you could drink coffee, have breakfast, shave, take a shower and then it just might be finishing up:)

I have half a dozen thumbs, but still have a stack of DVDs I need to burn up. Don't ask me why!

LOL, Vlad! All my music is on DVD. 100 or so? One of these days when I really retire I'll throw them all on a terabyte dive and sell them. I'm sure someone will buy.

BTW, I still have vinyl which I'll never depart from. Old stuff. You know. Stuff where we amplified distortion and scratches.

The poor guy ended up getting killed on a sidewalk waiting for a light to change on his bicycle. A young driver didn't notice until the last second that the light had changed red slamming on the brakes and ran over him after losing control of his car. We never know when our number is up.....

Well, in the USA alone there are still over 50+ million cable subscribers and about the same for satellite users. I don't think TV is dead, if nothing else it will just become an internet service. 3D hasn't taken off and I don't Holo will either, people don't want to wear head gear to watch for extended periods. Maybe in a hundred years they will have some sort of Star Wars type projection.
