You can set your notification of subscribed threads to be "through control panel only" and then just check your User CP when you want to update yourself on a thread. I've done that for the 40-odd threads I subscribe to; works much better than instant notifications and keeps my inbox clear.

One thing of interest was that I followed the above, but when I checked, I got the infamous "Fix Me" which consisted of the sole choice of Opt Out, so I did. I then went back to Get Started and followed along; this time I'm told I'm ready to get Insider builds.

I'm not sure I understand. Why would the number of posts make a difference? Do we get a reward or something?

In some forums people just post to increase their count. On another forum we had one thread set up by a mod to increase our post counts.. he just wanted to mess with another member that got banned and he had a huge post count.

New badges? I do believe some of them are based on the number of posts you've made. You and I, and I think most members here, don't pay any attention to post count. Some do, and see it as an honor badge or something. Then they spam threads to build it up. I don't think its an issue here. As mentioned, a picture (or smiley) is worth a thousand words. Sometimes all you need is a ditto.
