It is not just a European or Asian thing. Years ago I knew a high priced Canadian university professor that pirated software. He got his students to crack it. His reason being he would buy it if it was more reasonably priced. Trouble is it is never cheap enough for some.

The sad thing is that good programs disappear because they don't earn enough money. This is especially true of good shareware. I wrote shareware many years ago and got asked for support by users but no money from them! I do remember getting $100.00 from a German software company. So the Europeans aren't all bad.

wow. just wow. So, if China were to pay for all their OS software, we would probably be paying $30 for it here instead of $120....wow...
Probably true, Simrick. I've known China is a major contender for pirating software for a long time.

Hey, I know!!! We could get someone to distribute a form of Linux and charge a huge price for it. The pirates would jump onto it like a mouse on cheese and would probably abandon pirated Windows. :)

That's how I used to get rid of bad tires because of fee needed to get rid of them and city would take only one a month. I put them by front porch and put $10 price tag, by the morning somebody would steal it.

Your screenshot shows that the file in question is located in root of OneDrive, not in a folder. This just might work:

Go to OneDrive Settings, unselect Files not in a folder, click OK:Wait OneDrive to process the changes. When the icon in notification area doesn't show the sync overlay anymore, check that this file really is not on OneDrive cloud storage. If it is there, delete it, then back to Settings and re-select Files not in a folder and let local OneDrive to get your files again.
See my reply in my thread here. Thanks :)

What link where to Microsoft tech support did you follow? That was not Microsoft. They would not charge you like that for that. IMHO You were scammed. If you gave them control of your PC, and it was not Microsoft your PC and all its personal info has been compromised. Big time. The can likely log back in anytime they want too. It's an on going phone scam around here. They call, say they are Microsoft, and that your PC is infected and they can fix it. Then they log in and install spyware. Then they remotely block your PC from the Internet and demand money to fix it and unlock it. Then a month latter they do it all again.
After the installation hung, there was a blue MS window with an error message saying reboot had failed. It listed the error code and two free call numbers to contact in Aussie:

    1. MS Help: 1800 951 723
    2. Windows Live Technician: 1800 757 069

Both of those phone numbers are incomplete. The 1 is the country code, the 800 is for free calls, the 951 and 757 are the prefix code and the last group should be 4 numbers. Without having the missing numbers the Internet Search won't find anything. It feels somewhat 'fishy' to me.

You have been scammed; your pc has been compromised. I would full-format the hard drive and reinstall W7, then go about changing all your passwords.

Still sounds fishy to me? What you described sounds just like the phone scam. Like I said, there should not have been any charge for that call. Can you post a link to the site you did the upgrade from? I just want to confirm that it is a real Microsoft site.

Some people should just make their Windows wallpaper a screenshot of BSOD.

I once made took a screenshot of a friends Windows desktop and made it their wallpaper. They clicked around for a while thinking their computer had frozen up.
