[QUOTE=Joanne;292848]Thanks for your suggestion but...nah...it's OK, I do not mind :)
And honestly, I do not even know IF I can do something about this, besides living with it for a few days (or weeks). Right after my desktop appears, my Network connection, so the icon in the task bar, keeps loading and loading and loading... Then, after around 4-5 minutes (!) the rest of the icons appear: the "Get Windows 10", the "GeForce Experience" icon, and the rest. So I don't know IF anything is downloading, I don't know IF the Task Manager will open or not... Some times I can open something, other times I have to wait for it to finish whatever it is doing, and then proceed.

All this in my main OS, Win 7 64 bit Home Premium, clean-installed two months ago, with my (few) regular programs I always use, with absolutely no new program installed during the last month, and when it comes to updates? Whatever Microsoft provides (besides Silverlight). Recently I get only Defender updates, anyway.

What I will do is that I will wait for the Upgrade to 10, and then get the official ISO from MS and clean install 10 on this system. On my other, secondary, SSD I will keep the Technical Preview and continue as an Insider (dual boot). I will clean-install the preview, as well, though, as soon as MS will provide an official (Insider's?) ISO.

    Thank you.

I had a problem with a slow start up after updating Geforce Experience to the latest version. found the solution on the Geforce Experience Forum, this update has caused quite a few problems.

    Solution:

    1. Go into your Services (Task Manager > Services > Open Services or just Search for it)
    2. Find NVIDIA Streamer Service
    3. Right Click > Properties
    4. Change Startup Type to Automatic (Delayed Start) or Disable

If you use Nvidia shield products to stream your PC games, you will have to wait a few minutes until it starts up again after boot or manually start this service to get that functionality back. Only select disable if you do not care for this feature.

I had some weirdness with Windows update on my laptop yesterday. Windows 8.1 Pro, AMD APU. I clicked show all available updates, check marked them, and got an immediate failed screen. Went back and it showed all up to date last checked today at..... Closed it all out went back in and it showed updates ready to install, clicked install and they did. Something like that, I'm just going by memory now, which isn't always that good. My Windows 10 desktop is really slow to boot up now. Tiles take forever to load. I'm just going to hold out till the upgrade on the 29th, then do a clean install.
Well, looks like this is "par for the course" as I have 31 failed Important updates. I'm going through them one at a time to see which ones are the failures. BTW, through all of that, the Defender update succeeded!

    Gahhhhhhhhhhh, ain't computers fun!?

. . .simple answer if your really having all those problems don't use it. It would appear you just don't like Windows 10, or Microsoft. . .good luck with whatever you choose to go with. . .:)
Jackalito didn't say anything like he was not happy with Windows 10. He's merely pointing out flaws, the same as most of us are. Lighten up!

Thanks for the advice, will give defender a try, i failed to mention as a long time (12 years) mac user returning to Windows recently after a brief spell with Chrome OS, the last windows system I used was XP, things appear to have evolved quite a bit since then.
You're quite welcome. Yes, they have evolved nicely. Also slimmed things down. You'll hardly notice Defender running. MS has to work on safer systems since it's so popular.

BTW, I like your sig. :)

I thought I'd install them one at a time, so unchecked all of them, checked the first one in line and the silly 8.1 system is installing all of 'em!

What's strange/funny is that I'm told, "Keep your PC on until this is done!" Never saw that before!

    Now it's Working on Updates . . . now restarting . . . We'll see where this goes . . . rebooting now . . . black screen city . . . faster this time . . . Getting Windows ready . . . working on updates . . . 100% complete . . . lock screen . . . signed in . . . wow, much faster this time . . . and everything succeeded except 2976978 . . . checking for updates to get 2976978 . . . taking its own sweet time . . . didn't show up, so searched for it and there it is, installed!

What a trip! I really did like taking this opportunity to follow along with the update path; educational to say the least. I learned a little bit more than I knew. Always nice!

I only just got 2976978, installed without a reboot though. Laptop seems to be working OK. I got a Displaylink update yesterday. I probably should plug in my external monitor to make sure it still works.

Wow, Alpha! After all that, my Windows 8.1 partition boots as readily as Windows 10 now! Wheeeeeeeeeee!

Of course I don't have a clue as to which update did it, but Thank you, Microsoft!

Welllllll, it ain't all bad. :) Lappy 17 boots into her Windows 8.1 partition so much faster, it's amazing! And really, she was working on the updates pretty quickly. I almost couldn't type fast enough to record what she was doing.

You're making a lot of assumptions just out of the blue, here. I've been using and loving Windows (ones more than others) since Windows 3.1.
Oh and by the way, I have very few issues on Windows 10 compared to other people.

If this is your attitude every time someone makes a criticism... One thing is support a company, another is blind devotion. I belong to the former, not the latter.

    Have a nice day!
    Cheers!
