I don't see we have the CHOICES in any builds yet. Maybe M$ will provide such choices to upgrade ones ONLY by an WU or next builds.
We don't know many things yet. But roll back or reinstall are options for sure.
the only definite thing, is that there's nothing actually definite. lol. no, i think the button to stop receiving insider builds is the key. i believe if you came from the proper channels, then clicking that button to stop insider builds, does just that, and you remain activated.
what it comes down to for me, is that staying in the insiders program is the safest way to go forward. then we can figure it all out from there. it's not like we don't have plenty of time.

there's still a lot of questions about this. my manufacturer said that there was something in the reg that allows m$ software to see which os you came from, and will automatically upgrade those computers that came from 7 or 8. the reason i asked them, is that i had just bought a brand new performance laptop, which of course came with win 8.1 on it, but since i hate 8.1 so much, i immediately upgraded it to my msa and windows 10. as you know, new laptops don't come with hard copies of windows, i don't have my original key for windows 8.1. so i am a little anxious to see how this is all going to work out, as i want to have one partition out of the insider program, and keep one partition in the insider program. i think they were saying that when you upgrade, m$ servers keep a registration of what os you came from. but not exactly sure.
There won't be if you clean installed. There is OEM activation info for Windows 7 OEM installs in the BIOS SLIC table, but it doesn't indicate what version was actually installed at the factory. There is no product code. All it really says is this PC is authorized for a factory OEM Windows 7 install for (insert OEM name here). That install could be Starter or all the way up to Ultimate. If you do an upgrade the original key and version info is stored in the Windows registry. That's all changed for Windows 8/8.1. The actual product code is stored in the BIOS and Microsoft could use it to figure out what version was originally installed.

Win 10 Preview Builds and Official Release are different matters. 10 Preview Builds does not track your Win 7 License. That's why you need to roll it back in order to upgrade to Official Release after 29.
They do if you do an upgrade install. My original Windows 7 key is still stored in the Windows registry. showkey can find it so Microsoft can too. https://www.tenforums.com/software-ap...7-showkey.html As far as I know I won't have to roll back.

that sounds sensible. and would explain a lot. but i don't think it is important anyway, what was loaded at the factory, only what was loaded last. factory might have loaded windows vista, but you bought windows 7 and used it for years. that would be the more relevant information anyway. so what you wrote here is the most sensible route as far as i'm concerned.

To leave the Insider Program to me is to roll back to my original Win 7/8.1. Does anyone upgraded from 7/8.1 to Previous Builds has a Win 10 Upgrade icon at right side at the taskbar? If not, how's that going to work?
I upgraded from Windows 7 and don't have the get windows 10 icon. I wouldn't expect to have it, I'm running the preview. I'll get the final release via windows update just like any other build.

no, i believe to leave the insider program, gabe just said you need to click the choice. if you came from a genuine win 7, 8, 8.1, then your os will remain activated. if you didn't, you need to go back through the steps to do so.
    That's my understanding as well.

The option is available in Settings, click Advanced, click on Stop insider builds.
If you have had a legitimate update, you will then be transferred to W10 outsider.

Does anyone knows that if there is a CLICK WU provided to let us leave the Insider Programs in the next 2 weeks or so, what if we click that on one machine and would still willing stay the programs for other 2 or 3 machines. What will happen?
