Guys I upgraded from Windows 7 home premium to Insider build 10240 on my laptop. I have left insider build but I am on Windows 10 pro. How to change to Windows 10 home pro from build 10240? Do I need to create Windows 10 home pro using media creation tool to upgrade to Windows 10 home?
There's no Windows 10 home pro, it's either or, Home or Pro, changing from Home to pro costs $99 or whatever is in Pounds.

Thanks for reply. Sorry I meant Windows 10 Home version. I just upgrade over Windows 10 pro IP build 10240. Will this become RTM once upgraded using Media creating tool?

Are you going to quit the Windows Insider Program? If so, you should be able to do so go to Windows Update>Advanced Options>Stop Insider Builds.

You may need to reinstall Windows Home Premium and then upgrade to Windows 10 to get things right again.

Yours is the second post I've seen about this "problem".

I have no idea, that's uncharted territory.

Sure is, Alpha, and I don't know what will happen if he "stops Insider builds".

I'd guess reinstallation of Windows 7 and start over. :)

What's really nice is that he obviously wants to stay legal. So much more refreshing than "how can I get around the system and get more than I'm entitled to" posts.

I upgraded from Windows 7 Home to Insider build. So at this point Windows 10 is activated. This is how microsoft want you to do it. Now I want to stop insider build to get Windows 10 Home version. Only correct way of upgrading is through ISO install either fresh or upgrade to home version. I think this is the way to go to Home version that will keep activation. If this does not work I will reinstall Windows 7 home using Packardbell recovery DVD's.

I hope so I will keep you updated. PC is activated to Windows 10 pro now trying to sort Laptop out I hope it goes smooth. Are there any negatives leaving IP?

Comodo firewall on my PC says its not compatible but On laptop that is also running Windows 10 pro for now has no issues. Its a wierd issue. So far I have no Antivirus other Windows Defender and Windows firewall. I always used Comodo, Avast and Malwarebytes combo on Laptop all are running fine but on PC they are not compatible. What kind of protection are you guys running. I dont want to use Defender and windows Firewall.

Windows 10 pro IP build 10240 is what many call RTM and even full release for public other than insiders. It is the base for other, future updates/upgrades and release numbers will just go higher from there. Staying an insider would bring you those new updates/upgrades before releasing to non-insiders, otherwise you will have to wait until they pass testing in insider ring.

I am using Malwarebytes Pro (paid for) and Widows Defender, this seems to be more than enough to be secure, but I'm sure others will disagree.

EDIT: I also raised the firewall security level on my modem/router from low to moderate security. Very few people even take this step.
