That's my problem. Can't afford to upgrade the system yet. But want Windows 10 now.

You have a whole year after the 29th to take advantage of the free upgrade offer. All depends on your definition or "now" I guess.

I've tried it just now and it doesn't work on my system, either. I right-click on the Network icon (task bar), Open Network and Sharing Center. It opens and then "Change Adapter Settings". It opens "Network Connections" and when I right-click on the "Ethernet" and select Properties, all windows close.
Just tried it and it happens to me as well. I "upvoted" the feedback.

Edit: all the adapter windows closed, the desktop went blank, then refreshed; all my other windows, like browser, etc., were minimized. My start button still works.

When right clicking network icon to change adapter settings not working anymore. The window opens but when trying to disable/enable adapters the screen just flashes and nothing happens. Have to go device manager to effect changes. Anybody else experiencing this? This happened after yesterdays updates.

Just tried that here and it did what yours did. Wonder what is wrong there, then,

    Same here!
I also have problems. I can access the properties, but if I choose to disable my ethernet adapter the screen flashes but nothing happens. If I want to disable/enable my network adapter, I have to do it through the Device Manager.
I believe this issue is related to the recent update that's causing explorer.exe crashes and other issues for many people.
Gabe Aul has said on Twitter that a fix is coming.
But, if this is a sneak peek of things to come...

I remember now, last time it happened it was due to Avast, removing it restored function but now I don't have Avast, defender only.
I don't use Avast or defender, as I have AVG installed that seems to disable defender automatically.

Windows 10 update KB3074681 causes Explorer crashes

Not all systems are being affected in the same way, but I believe that the network setting issue is related to this. I'll try to uninstall that update later and try again.

    Here's a method that works:

Enable 'Use check boxes...' in File Explorer Options

You use AVG on a HP Pavilion mini with an i3? Doesn't that bog down your system? How much RAM does that eat?
