We are talking about what Rocky did, see a few postings back. It should be different since he opted out of the insider version and was upgraded using a genuine windows 7 sp1 or 8.1 I may try it myself and I will save the eula and other agreements if possibly and post it. It just depends if Gabe answers my tweet. I got plenty of image backups even if it means I have to wait longer to get windows 10.
Yes i know what he did. But it remains a fact, that if you clean install 10240 (from a converted esd) you get the same eula/agreement which you have to accept in order to start the installation. And after the installation you automatically will be logged out of the insider program. Which all makes perfectly sense if 10240 is the rtm which all the manifacturers already got in order to release their products with windows 10.

You might be on the RTM version, but it is different from the OEMs or the one will get after 29th as sounds like that you are still in Insiders. Kind of complicated, you need to read this thread last 15 pages at least to get some pictures. This sucks! isn't it?

Did you ever clean install and opt-out? I will not be surprised if your answer is YES.

My pc still shows activated. Upgraded from an 8.1 Pro key.

This happened to me the other night, it was deactivated for unknown reason, so what I did is go back to Windows 8.1, activated the 8.1 and re-installed Windows 10 Build 10240 on top of the activated Windows 8.1 using a self made ISO from the ESD made during my last build update. It was activated automatically without even entering the insider key. Doing so will automatically opt you out of the insider program, but you can still activate insider builds on the settings. If you don't want to re-install, you need to do the alternative method to activate using a custom KMS server since the official activation server from Microsoft has already blocked all the insider keys.

I don't think I opted out. This was a clean install from the esd.
