I wouldn't be too bothered to try for an ISO of 10166. I built a flash drive with it and it wouldn't install on my laptop. So I started over from extracting the ESD file, creating an ISO and then a new bootable flash drive. Same thing happened; it wouldn't install and by the time all was said and done, I had a corrupted install of 10074.

One or two others had the same problem, so there may be something wrong somewhere with 10166.

If you downloaded 10162, you could try with that. Otherwise, do what I'm doing . . . waiting for the next Build.
it will probably be here tomorrow anyway. they need at least one more test before the 29th.

Just some of saved OSes, not counting backup disks.

I have a few, too, all safe on OneDrive, not taking space on local drives.

I'm somewhat of a SW "Pack rat". This is folder with "necessary" files, programs, drivers, ad-dons etc. I keep separately and update once i a while with new versions. Also backed up on external disk.

I just use diskpart, option two here, http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials...e-windows.html. I personally find it easier than messing with Rufus and the thumb drive works for UEFI and legacy. I'm not knocking Rufus, I just prefer to use Windows built in tools when possible. The tutorial is for Windows 8 but it works for Windows 10 too as far as I know.

+1 for Diskpart. I've used that tutorial for Windows 10 without problems.

It also works in a VM (created a VHD file of 8GB or so and attach it to the VM) which is a good place to practise.

The downside of using Diskpart is that you can probably do more damage if you aren't careful.

i think rufus is much easier than diskpart, but i have been using diskpart for so long, that i could go either way. and yes, you can easily lose sooooooo much on diskpart if you aren't careful. i have lost entire drives back in the day, on diskpart, not realizing that the clean function cleans the entire disk, not just a partition.

...and i'm just the opposite of countmike and kari with the iso's. for those who like to keep all of them, it's all good, but everyone has their own mindsets about this, and mine is once i establish that a particular new build works better than the previous ones, the previous ones are deleted quickly, and only a backup of the latest or best one is kept. i know i can always go on the net to get one if needed. so i have no need to use up space with the older ones, as i am only interested in the one that is working the best.

Yep, those partitioners can be very scary. Only needs a slight loss of concentration or misunderstanding..................

Can't say I see much value in using up disk space on old builds, either. But, in saying that, I have a few oldies on DVD that were produced before I started using a USB stick. The tip about mounting the ISO also helped remove rufus from the equation.
