very disappointed with this patch, crashing constantly BSOD when trying to play my game
previous patch was just great -- dunno what's changed Nvidia drivers same as ..

    perhaps I've missed the stickie
but its really important I reckon
NOT to allow windows to auto-update drivers
should we not all take the tick out of device updates?

Hehe, sounds like AMD actually has the better Windows 10 drivers right now. 0 problems with AMD via WU drivers.

Did you try to roll back to previous driver?

@Wynona - sorry you're having such problems. You don't have an image to restore?

I see the ISOs are still up:

But I think something is definitely going on......here's something in Windows Update I have never seen before:

Thanks, Simrick, but I downloaded the ISO when it became available and then 10166 came out before I could do anything with it, so I'll just build a flash drive with Rufus. :)

yeah, i made a post earlier that the 353.30 had some problems, and so i rolled back the driver to 353.06, which is working perfectly. so take it as you like, but this should help you out. good luck.

Well, phooey! I've tried twice to do a clean install of 10166 on my laptop, but had no idea this was going on! This morning, it got so far and hung up. I shut down and rebooted, but wound up with 100074 installed!

I recreated the ISO file and redid my USB installation flash drive! Now I'm at the same spot once more, "Just a moment..." and nothing is happening. I don't think we had 24 hours notice on this one, even if they said we did! Outlook would pick the wrong day to act up and not give me all my email! Sheesh!
OK. I've spent nearly all day trying to clean install Windows 10 build 10166.

I had a problem with that build yesterday and I decided to start fresh, but no matter what I tried, I couldn't finish the installation successfully.
Once I reached the screen to personalise the experience (or how much you let Microsoft to spy on us), and before asking for my account credentials, I only got a "just a moment" with the popular dotted circle animation.

If I waited, nothing would happen. If I restarted, I'd get stuck on the same point. If I pressed enter, the screen would turn from blue into gray and after a while I would see this error message:

If I clicked on Sign out now, after a while I'd get the same error and the same would happen over and over again.

If I managed to finish, the system would get messed up and there was no solution to fix it.

After driving myself nuts, thinking I had never ever had any problems to install any build from an ISO using a USB stick (including this 10166), I read Gabe's update on the Microsoft blog and that made me think that it may be something on their end.

First I tried to install it on a virtual machine on Windows 8.1 (dual boot user here), and it worked flawlessly.
So, I don't know exactly the reason, maybe they're changing something on their servers, but after having tested my CPU, RAM, video card, disk drives, etc., I managed to clean install build 10166 again on my system.

What I did was, first of all, disconnect my PC from the Internet, and when I installed it I didn't type in any license key. Once I reached the conflicting part, it didn't fail and asked me to enter data to create a local account. I followed the steps and finished with the setup.

Then, once in Windows, I just added my Microsoft Insider account, set it as Administrator, changed the local account to guest, sign out from it, sign in with the Microsoft one, and delete the local account.

I verified my account and voila, clean install complete and, even though I didn't type in any product key, it was already activated.

Now I can comfortably wait for the next build through Windows Update.

I hope this will help others.
    Cheers!

I'm sitting at "Just a moment..." for Build 10159; I decided it wouldn't matter which build I have installed, but now . . .

This time, Just a moment is earlier; checking my network.

    I already did!

I finally shut down because nothing had happened except for the dots chasing each other around and around.

    Then: Preparing automatic repair
    Diagnosing
    Restart Button

I'm past signing in now, and all the way to "Taking care of a few things" . . . Setting up your apps.

    We'll see what happens next . . . Wow, it's through and I'm now running 10159 on Lappy 17!

I don't expect everything to be as it should, but at least I have a Windows 10 install. Gonna check Windows Update and see if it will. :)

While looking for a flash drive for 10162, I found 10159, so I installed that instead. Of course, there were big time problems, but it's finally installed. Now I have something to update when the next build comes out. :)
