I just shut down and restarted and my Microsoft Solitaire Collection and Calculator icons have been changed to look like a sheet of paper on my Quick Launch Bar! I tried deleting and replacing them, but I still get just the "sheet of paper". Two aren't so bad, but what if it takes out some of my other ones!

And yeah, this may not be huge for some, but it says Windows isn't working right yet!

Upgraded 10166 to all 3 machines (2 x64, 1 x86) and played all for a while. I'll consider 10166 is the smoothest build compare with all previous builds.

I seem to have hit a snag. I have 10166 ready to download. But I have to download and install Definition Update for Windows Defender - KB2267602 (Definition 1.201.1368.0) first. However, it had been stuck on 0% since last night and is still stuck. Any ideas.

I've had that in the past and it seemed to clear up on it's own but I think I tried a restart and that worked.

Restart few times will usually continue normally. If not, try get to Task Manager > Services > wuausev turn stop and start and see it helps.

Sorry for the consecutive post but I felt like posting this question in a new post :

    - Can someone, please, tell me how can I completely uninstall the Mail application from my system and install it again?

The live tile of the Mail app is not live at all. I think it is completely dead on my system. So, I want to re-install the Mail app. How can I do it, please?

The Weather app works fine and its live tile updates each time I open my Start menu.

NOTE: I upgraded to build 10166 from the previous official build, 10162. The previous build was clean-installed from MS official ISO. I had the same issues on the previous build, as well.

    RE/
The Weather app has nothing to do with the Mail App different search string to uninstall

Mail app isn't all that stable when it works so don't bank or pay with it or do anthing important that would be my advise .
Same thing for Edge browser ( like IE 11 ) it's only good for downloading a better default browser like Firefox or my choice Chrome although F/F is plenty decent if U like that they also have a good e-mail client . i.e. Thunderbird .

3 Fixes below try them in order see what works or not no guarantees but all of these have worked at one time or another on various test builds and configs while not on otherr builds .

Note: there is still no foolproof routine to remove mail app and re install it u have to get lucky .

E mail app fix (Admin Privlige Command ) to remove mail app.

***** Worked for me and some others **** it was fix on the MS Win Insider Forum ouside of MS the modified store install is my lucky guess that worked ☻☻

This one might work it works for some and it worked for me once start out with elaevated cmd > rt Click Start Cutton (Admin Privlige Command )

Type or copy & paste bold string into cmd prompt no space . At win admin cmd prompt you will see this : C:\WINDOWS\system32>

    et-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online

    (PRESS ENTER)

Do that exactly from start to finish 3 times total ( 2 more times ) after entering first sring ^^^^^^

    Install E mail app
Open store goto accts> my apps > (if app is present but not installed [owned] ) highlight it (or) just go to bottom of app window if it is by itself click install button at bottom of window try to install it normaly first if it doesent work back out and re enter the app and try this :

( dont use the dialog box (on the app tile ) as you normally would) it would not work for me it only installed using the install app option button at bottom of my apps window within accts in the windows store

Fix 2 Powershell cmd to remove mail app to enter admin powershell initaite an elevated CMD (Admin Privlige Command ) as above .

******This is Microsoft official fix it never worked for me and lots of others try it anyway.***** (:

In elevated cmd : Type in Powershell you may heve to do that a few times to see this prompt at admin powershell : PS C:\WINDOWS\system32>

Enter or copy & paste this bold string exacty at the power shell prompt no space in between to remove Mail App :

    Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “windowscommunications”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online

Also, if you aren't getting the following after running the PowerShell command, that means the command didn't do anything.
    Path :
    Online : True

Fix 3 modified Powershell cmd to remove mail app
Enter Windows admin. powershell as above
If this works go to install mail app routine above ........if not see fix 3 with re named search ( that adds 2 wild cards **)

***This worked for me and lots of others it was modified ouside of M.S. on the Insider Forums *** ☻☻

ALT fix in admin powershell For those of you getting the 0x80073cff error when trying to reinstall Mail, Calendar, and People after running the PowerShell command. Use this modified bold string below in windows admin power shell as above exactly for fix 3

    Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunications*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online

Also, again if you aren't getting the following after running the PowerShell command, that means the command didn't do anything.
    Path :
    Online : True
    RestartNeeded : False

If you get the removal action above go to Store and re install app as above if not maybe a recovery restore or clean install
from within Windows settings app > update /security /recov ery /back up i.e. Win 10 recovery console or a new download

or roll back and update again with a new download ISO or ESD or forced update from your last build but you will have to remove 10166 from Win syst 32 or more likley ( Old windows folders ) first if you try to roll back and force update an earlier biuld but thats another conversation.

Good luck let us know what happens

Thanks for this! It did the trick. The download of 10166 now seems to be downloading. Now at 6%.
