As a reply to my post #61, I got the following message from Bat1

My bedtime or I'd be a little more help. You should Google Windows Update MiniTool. It'll allow You to disable automatic updates, then you scan for updates using it, and download only what You have the Cap for, then you can download the rest later.

We have a thread that You'd probably need to become a member to see at: Windows Update MiniTool

If You need help using it just ask My Digital Life Forums and tell Him Bat sent You to him

There are also YouTube Vids on using it, just be careful where You download the tool.

The update to .953 breaks the video playback. Why?
    It's not just me then....

SiliconDust, manufacturers of the HDHomeRun have had their engineers investigating this since their customers complained the update crashed their App.

...this thread helped confirm the suspicion that the issue some of our customers are experiencing is caused by the latest windows update...
WU 14393.953 Now W10 App crashes upon load, wont run - Page 2 - Silicondust

After investigating, this is the filter responsible:
    Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder
    C:\Windows\SysWOW64\msmpeg2vdec.dll
    {212690FB-83E5-4526-8FD7-74478B7939CD}
Using GraphStudioNext and trying to render any .mp4 file with logging enabled shows that this filter is the last one directshow tries to automatically load before crashing.

What's the difference between the delta and the cumulative versions?
    I join the question.
@bobsagetfullhou, @GWX - Delta is the difference between what you have installed on your system and what is in latest cumulative update KB4013429.

Cumulative contains everything updated since last version 1607 (to avoid the gazillion updates you got on Windows 7). What was in the last cumulative update (KB3213986) is included in the current one (KB4013429).

If you clean installed 1607 they would be the same. If you have been taking all the cumulative updates since then then delta will be smaller as not every object is changed every time - you'll only get the differences between the last update and the current one.

Therefore if you have been updating your system and download the cumulative patch it will be bigger than what you get through Windows update as quite a lot of stuff in KB4013429 was released already in KB3213986 etc and so doesn't need to be downloaded again.

It might be worth downloading the cumulative update if you have lots of machines to update or if it keeps failing. I have 5 machines. 4 updated fine using the delta via Windows update first time. The last one failed 4 or 5 times with various different errors (out of memory, unknown errors &c) before finally working.

If you have slow internet (or a cap on downloads) and/or lots of machines to update it may be worth downloading cumulative from links in the OP but otherwise taking delta is probably easier.

Maybe Bat realized You didn't know how to use the Search Function to look for nfo on tenforums ? Or the Entire Internet ?
Post #6 How do you select which Windows 10 updates to be installed?
There are Several Other threads like How good is Windows Update MiniTool?
If You Don't have Google to search as I recommended, I'm sure Bing would return similar results.

I sent the PM to recommend Someone who would gladly take the time to Help You with any problems and could answer any Questions. It appears You don't have the Courtesy to NOT post a direct link to someone's profile on another Forum ? Don't worry I Won't offer advice to You or anyone else by PM again.
