Modern apps suck because they are intended for mobile/touch screen use.
Hell, all hybrid stuff suck because you can't make a good optimized program that can work on everything.

No offence but I am enjoying this semantic debate :).

Let's try to stir the pot a bit more: Download and install Excel Mobile Preview App, PowerPoint Mobile Preview App or Word Mobile Preview App to your Windows 10 computer. All of them have the word Mobile in their names. All of them are standard Windows Store Apps.

Try them, use them. On Windows 10 PC they are full-fledged desktop applications / programs, capable to do almost anything and everything their Office Suite counterparts can do (of course there are certain limitations, these apps are free!).
    yes, i like it also.

Question?? Have you actually written any software or are you using a dictionary for these terms??
no bunny, i am not a programer. i am a biologist. but have several friends who are programers, and do it for a living. i get a lot of my information from them.

Keep in mind from my point of view as a programmer everything is a program/software and it doesn't matter to me if it's a "Program",, "App" or "Application". To me .. it's all code.
That's fine, Bunny. Good for you. Of course it's all software, it's all programs. Programs, programs, programs all the way down. I've been programming since 1978, starting with 6502 and Z80 assembly language back in the day. So what?

It's not 'all the same' to the huge majority of people using the stuff, and these people can easily discern the difference between an application written to the Win32 API, and one written to the WinRT API. The latter being an 'App'. The distinction is real and useful, and I don't know why it's so important to you and others to pretend otherwise.

Thanks, Alpha, I think this is what I'm looking for.
I was about to repost it in case you missed it, after getting sidetracked. Yeah, I think that will fix things for you. Have a look at all the other settings while your there. You may want to turn some of them on or off, etc.

And programs are software.. serious. I'm just saying that software and programs are the same.
But you can call it anything you want to..

Are you trying to be obtuse? Of course software and programs are the same, I just got through saying that. I am having a hard time understanding your agenda here. Can you stick an Apple app on Windows 10? No? Why not, they're all just programs! I mean, a program is a program, right? You are being absurd.
IT's all code.. that's all I said and am saying.
    You're getting to worked up.
