What about us that have installed from an ISO to 10158 (thanks for helping do that last night, btw)? Although everything at the moment seems to be working, WU still shows updates failing (see my previous post on page 30), while they actual installed correctly.
Anyone know what the latest Windows Defender definition is? My last update of WD was early this morning (supposedly the only successful update, aka lies!), while with every other build I got WD definitions several times a day.
without knowing your system, the only thing i can tell you is that there must be something wrong with the drivers on your system. but it isn't the build. i always make sure all of my drivers are up to date. i am a little ocd about this, and i almost never have any problems with updates. so if you have to, go to the manufacturers websites and dl the most current drivers. because one of my computers is running from a fresh install of that iso, and it has zero problems with any drivers. i just rechecked defender, and it is all up to date.

I just kept trying first at the fast ring then the slow. It actually downloaded twice and the second one was slower and it worked. If MS is wanting to release this on 7.29 , they have quite a great deal of work to do on it.

So, I did my system images, data backups, WUs and prepared for the update to 10158 last night. Then I downloaded it, grabbed the ESD and made an ISO. Went to bed and let it upgrade on its own. This morning I woke up to a perfectly upgraded system. Here are my observations so far:

Dark Theme, auto-changed back to my original theme after 10 minutes
Office 2016 preview makes it more difficult to save locally
    Speccy is missing
All system restore points are gone
    System Restore is turned off
No Cortana – audio could not launch – music works, but she just sits there “listening”
    Store apps are working again
No bangs in Device Manager, but no auto-update for ATI Radeon display driver
Quick reply in tenforums using Edge works fine for me.
Snippet finally has a print function! YAY!
Edge is FAST, but still no “paste and go” – what is wrong with them?
No bugcheck for me when coming out of sleep
Don’t know yet if the shutdown error has gone away for me

If it were not for Macrium Reflect, I would have been out of this program long ago.

One of my main reasons is that it's not easy to add a new site to favorites. The other has to do whether FF will work as well with Skype for business as IE does.
I've been using the S4B plugin in FF for all our meetings and it seems to work just fine for me.

everything i have done in edge worked fine. i deleted ie as soon as i got my system up and running, as i have in every other m$ os, as it is the single worst browser ever invented. i normally use firefox, chrome and opera, in that order of importance. i never have problems with my browsers. each has specific abilities which make it worth having. but from the little bit that i have played around with edge, it has worked fine, much better than any form of ie i have ever bothered with.

macrium is a great product, and i also use it, but have never needed to use it since coming into the tech. preview program back at 9822 i think it was.
also of note, i turn sys restore off anyway, as i use all ssd's in my system, and don't need it with macrium. office works fine for me in all builds.

I haven't yet tried to set FF up to allow Skype for Business to run correctly; gotta get to that, but have a week or so before our next meeting. Hopefully it will work as well on FF as it did on IE when I got things set up right. :)

As far as a free USB stick's concerned, don't hold your breath. Excerpt from the article you posted: ". . . a new report claims that the stand-alone Home and Professional versions of the OS could be sold in retail stores via a new method: USB Flash drives." What this is alluding to is that Windows may be sold on a USB flash drive by Retailers and has nothing to do with the free upgrade.

Microsoft is giving us a free upgrade to Windows 10 (we all know the specifics by now), so why would they add the cost of a flash drive and payment to (most likely) a third party company to create a few million flash drives for something that's already costing them a pretty hefty bundle. It's just not reasonable.

    Limited internet connections

My only internet connection is a Verizon MiFi, which can download 5GB per month. The Windows 10 download would take ages and kill our month. Will there be a way to get a DVD? Ladd

Microsoft says: “We’ll have options available for users who can’t download through Windows Update.” These options have yet to be announced.

It looks like there maybe some off-line option to upgrade. I have been reading more about windows 10 now don't get me wrong I do like some of the features of windows 10. One thing I keep coming across and really concerning is Microsoft is going to have frequent feature updates. Which means windows 10 home users could have huge updates to download every month which I don't want free or not. Windows 10 build previews on my slow high speed takes about 2 to 3 hours that about 3 gb size with my internet connection. I don't want my operating system desktop changing every few months. You get set like you want it, then they change it.
