Microsoft must have removed the PID.txt file. Now, instead of just automatically installing Pro on a clean install, you have choice of Home or Pro, depending on what key you enter. No PID.txt means you have to enter a key to tell it what version to install.
When I did a clean install last night, I skipped entering a key, because I wasn't online at the time. It still installed the Pro version on my PC. But this morning I had to enter a key in order to activate.

Interesting, Windows 8.1 won't let you install without entering a Product Code. Did you get a menu where you select Home or Pro? I haven't done a clean install yet, just an upgrade through Windows Update.

Windows 10 Build 10158 has messed up my Chrome

Windows 10 Build 10158 has messed up my Chrome. I'm getting a whole load of popups, which never appeared before - even in Build 10130.

I can get rid of them by turning off JavaScript, but then Gmail will not run.

    Anyone got any ideas please?

Other than that the install went well and all appears to be running fine so far.

No I didn't get any menu for Home or Pro. During installation it asked for a key a couple of times, but I was able to skip it, until I got online. The reason I prefer installing without being online is so Windows doesn't download extra drivers. I already have all the drivers I need, like Nvidia and RealTek saved, so I don't want to waste the extra data, since I am on a metered connection.

Try running Malware Bytes.. that might fix it up.

Just curious, did anyone lose the ability to select "Windows Spotlight" for the lock screen?

    Thanks

Feel free to upvote :) I've posted it as "Cannot change desktop background"
I had a custom picture on my desktop before the upgrade. When upgrade was finished, I had dark theme. Ten minutes later, it changed itself back to my original background photo!

I did lose it as well. I can choose between an image or configure a slide show, but haven't tested the latter yet.
Besides, the functionality to show "adds" in the Start Menu is gone. Would it be possible to think they've abandoned this idea or is it related to the fact I did a clean install instead of upgrading?
