I am about ready to give up on 10 all together free or otherwise because Microsoft can't make up its mind. I wonder if Newegg & Amazon complained. They would lose a lot of money.
Uhh, would they? I doubt many people buy Windows nowadays. They probably just get it with a PC.

Don't let it bother you.. all you have to do is go from win7/win8.1 to Win10.. just like I plan on doing. Cut's down on the confusion and frustration,

    Jeff,
I didn't want to give up windows 7. However, I might try the release as an insider to see if I want it and my programs still work but I am not so sure I won't go through the hassle. For a week or so everyone will have the RTM whether they are an insider or not that if they upgrade to 10. I also have a few issues with my computer. My dell computer is an oem slp key and my motherboard was replaced under warranty. At one time I used the key to install the 32 bit version of windows 7 from digital rivers but that been awhile. I am back to using the 64 bit version oem slp version.

That about clears it up! Go figure!
Those guys don't know crap. They have the same information we have, and they're just giving their own interpretations. You'll get a different answer from a different "tech", i'm certain. These are front-line script-monkeys. They only know what someone has written a script for them to answer, any other answer they give they pull from their nether regions.

You are misinterpreting events. It's not that Microsoft can't make up its mind at all. MS knows exactly how they're going to handle this. The problem is that the twitter information tends to come from developers, and not the lawyers, and the developers don't think about all the legal stuff, so what they say is how THEY see it.

This is one reason why Microsoft has traditionally not let developers talk on the subject of license terms.

Continue on with what you're doing and let the dickens take the hindmost. :) Just be sure you're the one at the front of the line!

So Gabe doesn't have the authorization to give insiders a free rtm if they leave the program but can still release the rtm to insiders as a regular build and it will be activated as normal.
