One is a "flight" or update, the other is an upgrade.

"Lost in Translation" I see that a lot. That's also the problem of many Blog sites(except Microsoft's). And even some Americans get it wrong... Thank God my stepmother was a teacher, and brought her work home with her(yeah it nerved to be constantly corrected, but it paid off).
Lost In translation Good movie. I try to write as correctly as possible, The better alternative is that others will learn Finnish language :)

    Edit: Thank you BunnyJ

Ok Maybe I misunderstood, what I read mesage #96 Where DavidY says Microsoft edit this text.
Damn need to learn more English
You understood correctly what I wrote. :)

(Whether I'm right or whether I'm wrong is a different matter, but those edits which Microsoft made have got to be significant, and they do change the meaning on whether we'll be able to keep running clean-installed builds as activated without a Win 7/8.x licence.)

Now the only time the word "activate" comes on that page is:
If you are running the Enterprise edition of the Windows 10 Insider Preview, to upgrade to the final release of Windows 10 Enterprise you will need to download and activate it from Volume Licensing Service Center. As a reminder, the Enterprise edition of the Windows 10 Insider Preview is not eligible for the free upgrade offer and can be upgraded to the final release of Windows 10 through an active Software Assurance agreement.

Appears to be back where I thought it would originally end up. Not really expecting anything at this point other than the obvious free upgrade from my 8.1. It does appear that Gabe may have gotten ahead of himself a bit.

Here's the way I see it:

Those running genuine Windows 7 or 8 will receive the free upgrade with the option to save the media for clean install...

    ... on that machine only...

... those who are not running genuine Windows or have a new build will need to install a genuine copy first or pay for it.

All Insiders running Windows 10 with their Registered Microsoft Account will get upgraded to the final release build of Windows 10 starting on July 29. If I am reading right, we won't be able to delay this upgrade. And why would we? :) We can just consider it a part of the Insider Program.

However, we are allowed to delay upgrading to Windows 10 from Windows 7 and 8.1 for up to one year after final release. That is one of the few concrete facts in this whole Technical Preview.
I do not remember reading that users in the Insider Program will be forced to upgrade their Windows 7, 8 or 8.1 within one year. If this is the case then I will have to do some serious thinking about this.
Wynona, would you or someone please provide a link to the source from MS that states this? Thanks.

This part in the quote that is in bold is a little concerning.

The way I'm reading it is if you are running a preview and are signed in to your MSA you will be upgraded on the 29th for free. For anyone else to get the free upgrade to Win 10 they have to have a genuine version of Window's 7 or 8. It's still early and I haven't had my coffee yet so I could be wrong.

That's the way it reads. Well that's how I interpret what's in the OP. It's strait forward.. you can go from the preview to the final release without needing to use either Win7/Win8.1 key/license if you are an insider member.. you using WIn10 and you're longed into your MSA..
