I am going to wait and see, probably stick with the standard upgrade from 8.1 to 10
It seems to get more confusing (to me) the more I read about it

Getting the final release on July 29th
Windows Insiders running the Windows 10 Insider Preview (Home and Pro editions) with their registered MSA connected to their PC will receive the final release build of Windows 10 starting on July 29th. This will come as just another flight. I’ve gotten a lot of questions from Windows Insiders about how this will work if they clean installed from ISO. As long as you are running an Insider Preview build and connected with the MSA you used to register, you will receive the Windows 10 final release build and remain activated. Once you have successfully installed this build and activated, you will also be able to clean install on that PC from final media if you want to start over fresh.
Those Lawyers earn their money. They have to be up on the current international business laws. Microsoft is an international company based in the US and the lawyers have to know what the laws are for taxes and practices in different regions and countries, trying to create a "One size fits all".
For example: the definition of upgrade vs update, have to do with, when how much a write off, when, & how they get it, is defined.
Source: http://www.neowin.net/news/microsoft...-for-the-moneyThis affects Microsoft in two ways. One is that they don't have to charge current Windows 8 users for Windows 8.1, as Apple does with its yearly upgrades for Mac OS X. The other is that by putting the "update" label on Windows 8.1, Microsoft does not have to defer any revenues for the Windows division, which could cause some major hits to the company's financial books. So, as Microsoft itself stated to the SEC, "We evaluated Windows 8.1 and determined that it did not meet the definition of an upgrade and thus have not deferred revenue related to this planned release." Problem solved. It's possible that Microsoft could continue to "update" Windows 8 with new features in yearly doses until it is ready for a major overhaul of the OS in the future.
So yeah, the lawyers will have a major say in final decisions.
Just when you thought MS were saying something that was generous and unambiguous we get this change of wording.
It's really beyond a joke. Where is their honour?
One really wouldn't have to wait for final media, would they? Just let the final upgrade, then go to Recovery Options and reinstall, or?
So, this was added "It’s important to note that only people running Genuine Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 can upgrade to Windows 10 as part of the free upgrade offer.*? As I mentioned earlier I read that as referring to non insiders that are not running the Tech Preview. That's all. Those running Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 that may want to accept the Free Upgrade offer. I agree though, it seemed plain and simple, now they went and did it again with the what does this really mean stuff?
