Yeah. Anyway, I probably shouldn't have smeared the guy, he's probably a pretty cool dude.

If promising stuff ya can't deliver is cool, then he must be . . . Poor guy; he's probably the laughing stock of the Windows Team by now. Prolly hiding underneath his desk too.

Doubt there's many of those, as XP has been EOL for over a year and Vista had a poor adoption rate.
    According to NetMarketShare, the W8 series (W8 + W8.1):
    • Has only just overtaken XP's market share
    • Still hasn't reached Vista's peak market share

Yes, I have to stay squeaky clean, but I don't think that's a real problem for anyone but pirates. Boo Hiss on Pirates! They're the ones who drive the cost of everything up and up and up!
Reality doesn't support that proposition (for music at least).

    Pre-piracy:
    • No individual track sales
    • Albums $30

    Post-piracy:
    • Individual track downloads
    • Albums $10

It seems to me that XP and Vista aren't getting the free upgrade offer because there is no upgrade path from XP or Vista. You're going to have to clean install to go to Windows 10 if your running those operating systems.

I'm getting confused about all the licensing ins and outs of Windows 10.

I'm currently dual booting Win 7 and Win 10. I've reserved my copy of Win 10 on my Win 7 drive. If I update Win 7 to 10 what happens to my Win 7 license? If I decide I preferred Win 7 can I still format the C:\ drive and reinstall Win 7 using the key on the DVD?

If you decide you like Windows 10 and want to keep it after the upgrade, it's my understanding that your Windows 7 license is no longer valid, since you upgraded 7 to 10. If you don't like Windows 10, you may be able to format and reinstall Windows 7. We haven't been told for sure by Microsoft yet.

You can continue on with the Windows 10 Insider Program; if you do, you'll continue to get new builds to test as they're produced by Microsoft.

Your first point is the worrying thing for me Wynona. I thought it was just me missing something about the Windows 7 license but obviously it's not. Fact is no one except Microsft know yet.
I would have thought it fair that if you completely remove the 10 upgrade from your PC then the 7 key should be available again to reinstall 7.

Having said that I'm liking 10 at the moment apart from a slow boot time.
