That's a option.. for me I just would still want some surprise factor when the 29th comes around. Why ruin the fun of "Christmas Day!!"
yeah, i would never consider loading a non-english leaked build. but, in general, loading a leaked version now, doesn't jeopardize anything with the ongoing officials. and, again, for me, the mindset is why wait for christmas on the 29th when you can have it today? lol. and who's to say that the next build officially released is 10147? it very well can be a higher version, so we are just stepping up. there could be several builds released in the next four weeks or so. we just don't know. yeah, to each there own...
but there are a ton of improvements that go welllllllllllllllllllllll beyond microsoft edge in 10147, i am assured of this. and i agree with winuser, leaked 10147 is better than ANY official release to date. there is no question. that's why it boggles my imagination that anyone would choose a buggy slow 10130 build over a much faster, smoother and more feature rich 10147. and i hope that the next release is 10157, and that it has even improved over 10147. that would be great!

This Build, (10151), does have some improvements even though it's probably an abandoned Chinese leak, but I'm having a heck of a time tweaking and sorting things out.
Heck, even trying to pick options in dialogs from memory is a pain cuz the Chinese alphabet is different alphanumerically!

Can someone help me and let me know if it is possible to upgrade from build 10130 to 10147 without losing all of my installed apps/programs? I am getting tired of waiting for a new build to be pushed through Windows Update and I'm having some issues with build 10130. So I burnt the ISO image to a disc and tried to install by selecting the 'upgrade' option, but that does not work.

Is it possible to upgrade to a newer build without losing my apps?

I don't recall if I ever upgraded from 10130 to 10147, but I believe that it should work. I'm pretty sure that I've read of others who have done so.

To upgrade, you have to launch the new installer from the old Windows installation. If you boot the PC from the DVD, it won't allow an upgrade installation. (Makes me wonder under what circumstances that "upgrade" button is useful.)

However, it should have given you an error message to that effect.

I believe that it's also possible to mount the .iso in your old version of Windows and to run the upgrade from that. Much faster than doing it from a DVD.

Thanks, I'll give this a shot and reply if I have any issues.

You should be able to. Mount the iso in File Explorer and click the setup exe.
Make sure to backup your stuff, just in case. Anything could go wrong.

I upgraded from 10130 to 10147 from inside Windows. No issues so far.
