I don't know whom is not understanding whom.

Microsoft use to have upgrade disk. Windows 98se to WindowsME.

When you used the WindowsME upgrade disk, you had to show the path to win98se cab files or insert your windows 98se disk to upgrade. Once upgrade to WindowsME you were not suppose to use the same Windows 98se on another partition because that would violate the EULA. I think that what they are doing with windows 10. Of course, you can remove 10 and go back to 8.1 or 7. Just like you could remove windowsME and go back to windows 98se without violating the eula.
You can talk in the past all you want. Were talking here and now. Post a link to where Microsoft has said (in black and white) that you forfeit the rights to go back to the qualifying OS you use to upgrade to Windows 10. The key words being "you forfeit the rights".

Which makes it an upgrade license. I have a full copy of 7 and 8 I can run both on the same machine if I want. If I have a full 7 but an upgrade 8, I can only run one or the other. Now things may change, but at this point that is what is being suggested.
    I agree @rvbfan

    Here is what I understand.

If you have a retail version of windows 7 you will update to retail version of Windows 10 and you be able to transfer this Windows 10 to another computer should you computer quit. You can always go back to windows 7 by removing windows 10.

If you have a OEM version of windows 7 you will be able update to Windows 10 OEM and you be not be able to transfer this Windows 10 to another computer should you computer quit. You can always go back to windows 7 by removing windows 10.

I think this is where people are getting confused. MS is giving a free Windows 10 upgrade licence. Not a full install licence.
Says who? Link please? It's already been stated that you will be able to clean install after doing the upgrade. With no tricks or jumping through hoops. Doesn't sound like an upgrade only version to me.

I doubt you forfeit the rights to previous os's. It should be the same as any previous upgrade software. Unless you buy a full install licence. That is something MS hasn't released to the public yet.

What I was debating with Jeff is the difference between full and upgrade.

If that's directed at me? I was just going by what you said, "MS is giving a free Windows 10 upgrade license. Not a full install license." I don't think that is the case, that's all. I was just wondering if you knew something I didn't?

Here's one or two, many more. No where does it say it is anything but an upgrade.
