My goto after MBAM is ADWCleaner from bleepingcomputer.

However, you seem to have more than the standard PUPs so the re-install seems best, as you say, particularly as this is a 'setup-lite'.

I've tried searching, but so far, can't find anything with hdqq other than in the Registry. If I could figure out where it came from, I'd just uninstall whichever app it's tied to.
The only time I recall seeing anything about hdqq software was related to a high definition cam. If you have or have had anything like that installed, it could be the culprit.

Offline, Mr. Bug? No, I had no idea it could be done. But I did run it first and it found nothing.
Yeah, I suggested that to you earlier, along with the ADWcleaner....

I have a quite old Microsoft Life Cam, and I don't think it's high def.

I'm skeered to go looking for that file now that I have a clean installation with Firefox and Office 365 for Business installed. But I guess I should.

Right, and ADWcleaner only found some stuff that may or may not be considered a drag on the computer. It didn't even find adware and I don't think it's supposed to look for spyware and malware, is it?

Once I got Malwarebytes installed, Mr. Bug, it found several Trojans and I told it to take care of 'em. But I'm not sure it really did; hence, the clean install.

    Done! And "hdqq" is gone!

What's not good, though, is that even though Malwarebytes caught some trojans, and eliminated them, a second run of MBAM gave the PC a clean bill of health; however, "hdqq" was still there.

Yea, sometimes stronger medicine is needed! A re-install is REALLY strong medicine!

Thanks, TC, I guess I misunderstood. I'm good at that! I found it, though, and will run it regularly!
