In the Surface TechNet Library we’ve added two new articles on Windows 10 deployment to Surface devices with the Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT).

In the new article Deploy Windows 10 to Surface devices with MDT we explore the traditional reimaging deployment scenario, where the existing operating system and configuration of the Surface device are removed and replaced with a new, customized environment. Follow the step-by-step process to set up a new MDT deployment share, prepare it with drivers and apps for Surface, and then use network boot or a USB drive to perform the deployment to your Surface devices.

In the new article Upgrade Surface devices to Windows 10 with MDT we explore the new option of deploying Windows 10 as an upgrade. The upgrade process is non-destructive and converts the existing Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. The upgrade process can also be used to deploy a version of Windows 10 to earlier versions of Windows 10, for example to deploy the Windows 10 Anniversary Update to managed Surface devices.
