I just wonder why he didn't get the current build. Just another MS mystery I guess.

I had read this before. Although it doesn't focus on Insider Builds, per se, it may be part of the underlying strategy of who-gets-what and when. May just be poppycock, maybe not. Interesting, though, regardless of your opinion of the author.

I don't know if they really do have the control you're suggesting. To me it's first come first serve and for some reason he's not connecting to the server correctly for the latest build.

Try deleting all files in folder

c:\windows\softwaredistribution

(not all files can be deleted - just ignore them)

Wait 10 minutes or so, then search for updates again.

With a simple Registry tweak, you can enable it in Windows 10.
