I was dual booting Atari1040St years ago. It had an adapter under the processor that held Macintosh BIOS chip.
That was in 1985 and it used Motorola 68000's 16-bit external bus and 32-bit internals processor as did Apple at that time. It also needed Apple OS 1.44MB diskette to work.
A DOS emulator worked within Atari TOS (Tramiel Operating System). It was faster than full fledged 286.
