What's a GWX icon. . .Please remember I posted as having another stroke (Baby) so some things just go over my head now. . .:)
Well, duhhhhhhh, Lee. We've all danced and bounced around your question and none of us even answered you properly!

The GWX icon is a "Get Windows 10" notification that Microsoft places there to let us know we're eligible for the free upgrade of Windows 10. Click on it and you can "reserve" (your computer will be gotten ready for Win 10) Windows 10 for that computer.

My GWX icon was on the right side of the bottom task bar in the notification area for W7, W8.1 and W10. So there!

Can't show you a pic becos I've deleted it, (Update KB3035583), from all three operating systems.

Edit: Apologies, it was not there in W10.

Thought I did, but may be mistaken.

    Definitely in W7 and W8.1.

I don't think anybody has gotten the Get Windows 10, on Windows 10. It's not there for me.

    My bad, you're right. Apologies!

I just got latest updates for W10 and checked update history and it's definitely not listed.

    Cheers M :)
