This system runs 8.1 Pro. I did not have the icon either but when I went into updates, I was asked if I wanted to reserve a copy. My laptop which already has Windows 10 on it has no icon either and nothing in updates.

    not getting the Icon?
Some have been saying they are not getting the Icon?
I've got it now! Since you said that there are others who are not getting it, it made me think that there must be a reason. I then remembered that I haven't check for updates for a few days. I therefore checked for updates and found that there were some available. I down loaded them, restarted my computer and lo and behold, the icon was there. Thanks for your response.

I've installed further updates, and still no App in the task bar.
There is talk that maybe it's only en_us at the moment...
I'm in the U.S. and didn't have the Win 10 notice either. Today, I uninstalled KB3035583 on my Windows 7 partition, rebooted and reinstalled KB3035583 through Windows update. That did the trick for me.

Thanks, Jack! Gonna go try it now!

Edit: I didn't find the KB, but three updates were waiting for me. So, I let them install, restarted my computer and there on the bottom right corner was this tiny "Windows Logo" that looked just like the one in the left bottom corner!

    Hmmm, what's that doing there . . . hover over it . . . WoW! "Get Windows 10! Aaaannnndddd! It's there on Lappy 17!

I think what may be happening is that Microsoft is rolling "Get Windows 10" in stages and we can't all be the first ones to get it! I certainly wasn't! :)

I'll have to try that, I still don't have the icon on my 7 desktop and the update was installed on the 20th of last month.

If you have a qualifying OS, a little icon such as this Windows 10 Release Date July 29-logo-snip.png will pop up in the bottom right corner of your display. Just click on it and follow the instructions.

It's not the one on the bottom left, but looks like it. :)
