Good news! Microsoft revealed that it has solved the freezing issues that have bedeviled Windows 10 users who installed the Anniversary Update, upgrading them to version 1607. And it has released a Windows Update that fixes the problem.
“After the launch of the Anniversary Update for Windows 10, Microsoft received a small number of reports of Windows 10 freezing when signing into Windows after installing the Anniversary Update,”
a Microsoft forum post explains. “With the help of users and MVP’s [sic] who posted on this thread, an investigation determined that a small fraction of users who had moved app information to a second logical drive could encounter this issue.”
About two weeks back, I noted that
Microsoft had posted a few workarounds for those experiences the freezing issues. These included moving your apps and data to the system drive and temporarily rolling back to Windows 10 version 1511.
Today, however, there is a better solution: Simply check for updates and install the
Windows Update KB3176938 that Microsoft released yesterday (August 31), and you’re good to go...
