It works for any update, just change the KB number. I found it here:

History: I first used the Update Catalog while on 1511, so I already had their add-on installed. Then the AU caused the 'browser not recognised' problem for me. Unticking both certainly got my Yahoo Mail working as it should, but TBH I didn't try using the Update Catalog in earnest until after KB3189866 was installed, so I don't know the answer to that one. I just hoped that the same fix would work for both. All I can say for certain is that MSUC seems to work correctly after KB3189866 was installed, with or without both ticked.
I haven't finished installing KB3189866 so I will check out MSUC after that.

Why you people use Windows Update? It's totally useless. Try Portable Update or some other alternative.

It's quite considerate of folks when they recommend or mention a particular product to include a Web link/address/URL to where it can be found.

All I can say is you must be running different software and hardware to me as my three computers, Surface Pro 4, Windows 10 Pro and Windows 10 Home have all more or less been running faultlessly, each running different software.
Well i have a Surface Book and it was hung at 45% for 2 days. I googled the stuck at 45% and found a solution of downloading it manually and installing with that install file. The error was during the download and not the install. It was a common occurrence with this update.

You are taking my post completely out of context, I was replying to a MrBILL post #13 whose quote is as follows....
"Well, I hope it is until they get these bugs worked out. That said, I'd rather see one or two big bang bug fixes and then hopefully fewer updates and smaller sizes because the system is finally where it needs to be."

This was after I posted "What a monster update.....hope this is not going to be the norm."

The above had nothing whatsoever to do with Server problems during this update of which numerous members, including yourself have alluded to.

How long did you wait? It doesn't scan every time you are idle, just once a day in my experience. You only posted that you'd tried my tip an hour or so ago. I've just checked on my machine (where Defender's 'scan on idle' does work). The last time it did so was 23 hours ago.

If you want to be sure Defender scans, there's nothing to stop you scheduling a task to do that. See how others have done so in this thread.
    Defender not Running Regular Scan
Before this update, defender would scan daily between 7 and 8PM, so roughly every 24 hours.

    !!!!!!!!!!!!!WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I suggest you STAY AWAY from this update KB3189866. It applied on my Dad's laptop this morning and suddenly he was unable to open his start menu and his volume slider would not appear when he clicked on his speaker icon. It was also impossible to right-click anything on the task bar and use any of the options, such as "Run as Administrator". Basically the task bar did not do ANYTHING besides start an app on the task bar that you double clicked on. Right clicking the start button icon did bring up the usual system stuff. Oh, and clicking on the clock did nothing. I managed to right click on the task bar and get settings to pop up. I immediately went to updates and uninstalled the KB3189866 update and rebooted. Every then worked again. I have been using Windows since version 1 Beta (before version 1). I hate Bill Gates.

BTW, this was on a factory high end $2000 HP-Omen Laptop purchased just last year.
