I have been using modded AMD drivers (14.12) for win 8.1 from TweakForce since 10122 came out and they have been working great.

An interesting thread, and yes, I read the whole thing, but.....
    I'm lost! I have 10122 running to two PC's, , , one is a six year old Dell Laptop running 10122, x86
and the other is my brand new home built Desktop, running a Gigabyte mobo and an AMD 8 core/ x64 CPU.
It runs like a scalded cat with my preferred Windows 8.1 as my main OS.

But since I installed 10122/64 on a spare HD, there has been NO problem at all with my hardware or any of the software that I've installed. I've not tried to instal my favorite 16 bit Game yet, which I'm pretty sure won't install on a 64 bit OS.
So all this chatter about AMD drivers, goes right over my head. I don't understand the problem!

Since I started Beta Testing, back in the early Windows 8 days, I've never had any problem with not having the necessary hardware drivers. MS has put out an excellent package of hardware drivers with every new build that they have released.
The only exception I've heard about is with HP Printers. But that's par for the course, with HP.
I use only Epson printers and every Beta OS I'v installed on my main PC has had the necessary printer drivers to run my Epson printers.

It would seem like Epson and MS have a very good working relationship. Eh? HP and MS....not so much.

I'm sure looking forward to the final release. Eh?

It wasn't a problem with AMD drivers as much as with C++ and .net libraries and runntimes that were plaguing CCC. It's not too much of a problem unless you need special setups for different monitors and without CCC autostarting all settings are lost when rebooting if they take at all.
On the subject of HP, both 8/8.1 and 10 have found basic drivers for my HP deskjetts, 1300 and even ancient 4L an 6L printers. 8/8.1 will not let drivers for Huawei 3G modem work but it works just fine in W 10.

Had to install the AMD drivers though Dev Mgr. All normal routes failed to make the display adapter use the AMD driver.

I used the current 14-12 driver, NOT the 15-4 beta (although I have used that on previous builds with no ill affects.
Download the 8.1 x64 version from AMD here
extract the files using 7-zip (9.20)
select update driver on the display adapter
    look on your computer
browse to the folder containing the files you extracted
make sure the subfolders checkbox is selected
the inf file should be found.
If there are more than one - make sure it's in the folder that matches your architecture (x86=32-bit or amd64=64 bit)

Are you running an AMD/ATI video card? If no, that's why its not an issue for you. My laptop has dual switchable AMD graphics. Without ccc that doesn't work. I was plagued with ccc has toped working pop up messages.

I have an HP printer and have no issues with Win 10. I am using the XG 14.12 drivers for my AMD video card from Tweakforce and so far so good with Win 10. I am using the same programs and software with Win 10 that I am using with Win 7 to see what will and won't work. So far I haven't had issues with anything yet. Hope it stays that way.
