    Hi Insiders,

On August 31, 2016, we started rolling out the August feature update for Office 2016 to Office Insiders.

To get the update immediately, open any Office 2016 app and choose File > Account > Update Options > Update Now. The new version number is 16.0.7341.2021.

    What's new in this release?

    New features this month:

    • Help right where you need it: In Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, type your question in the Tell Me box and you'll see answers right there in the app, with improved search, content, and recommendations.

    • Mini-Previews for Attached Photos: When photos are attached to an email, Outlook shows a small preview of the photo in the message.
    • Refresh the Query - Keep the Layouts Formats and calculated columns for data imported using Get & Transform are now preserved after queries refresh.

    I just got Office 1612 (build 7611.1000).

When it was downloading this update I started the Taskmanager to check the download speed because it seemed to be going very slowly. I then saw that it was sending WAY MORE than what is was receiving - up to 40Mbps send and around 200Kbps receive. I do trust Microsoft but I do wonder what the heck they were sending! Anyone have any idea?

Have a look in Settings > Update and Security > Advanced Options > Choose how updates are delivered

Perhaps you have the Updates from more than one place turned on and you are sharing the bit you have downloaded with others over the internet (it works like a torrent). It is nothing to worry about if you don't have a cap on your bandwidth.

Thanks, that does explain it. I do have a cap on my bandwidth so it may be time to turn that bittorrent feature off.

I checked the traffic on my router and it uploaded almost 5GB on the day I got the latest office update. I wonder how long it would upload before it stops.
