There are going to be three Windows 10 servicing branches when the product launches: Current Branch (CB), Current Branch for Business (CBB) and Long Term Servicing Branch (LTSB). Different versions of Windows 10 will give users access to different servicing branches.
Those running Windows 10 Home will have just one choice -- the Current Branch. That means those users will have to take any new features, fixes and security updates that Microsoft pushes to them via Windows Update. (They will be pushed after Windows Insiders and Microsoft itself tests them.) Windows 10 Home users won't have the option of delaying or deferring anything. And for many consumers, that will be OK, if not welcome.
In many cases here I think users are going to be able to get the Pro version and be able to have more control on what updates. The only issue, if there is one, will be for Home users.

Makes sense now why its free :)
Me - A Home user - No control over updates/feature changes
Pay to upgrade and I can control these features

In general I have no problem with auto updates, my current machine is set todo this, its feature changes I don't like to be compulsory, I would like options for this

I think that's utter speculation/FUD at this point. Even if there are "branches" of updates that doesn't mean a user will be forced to install an upgrade. There are several good reasons why Microsoft can't force-feed updates to Windows users...which is why they've never done it before. The main one is that hardware among systems is vastly different--you cannot force-feed updates on a universal scale--you'd have pandemonium... All kinds of problems will ensue if people are not allowed to pick and choose their updates--which is, again, why Microsoft has never forced them before. The Insiders program is only a couple million people...when Win10 goes RTM it'll be 10x that number in a month, and 10x that number again in a year, etc. and a geometric progression after that. They are doing what they are doing now because this is a beta-test program very limited in scope compared to what general availability will be, and they have systems they need to test.

Besides, it's already true that most people leave their update settings on "automatic," anyway... I don't and never would, and many people won't. I think that some folks are looking at the Insiders beta program and extrapolating what will happen after Win10 goes RTM, and that's because they've already confused the beta program with the RTM.

My best guess is these "forced updates" will be Microsoft and/or Windows updates only, I can't see MS forcing third party software such as drivers down our throats. If they do, they'll quickly have a mess on their and our hands.

If you have a license for WIn8.1 pro you get a license for WIn10 pro so you would get more control on updates.. I hope. In my case I have the Pro edition of WIn8.1 so I can get the Win10 Pro.

Think I just have the home version, just says it's windows 8.1 (no home or pro after it)

Going to wait and see what happens, see if things get a bit more clarified

The way I read it, even if you have Pro, you need access to Windows Update for Business to pick and chose. AKA updates via a business network. This is a deal breaker for me if I have to accept every update listed under Windows update. Especially if driver updates fall under that.

If it doesn't say Pro it's just 8.1 (Core). For what ever reason Microsoft just calls it 8.1, no Home no nothing. It's often referred to as the Core edition.

This is what I mean... "Choice and control"...? Oh, come on... You are testing a *beta* OS and as such it has many limitations the final version won't have. You'll get all the choice and control you want in the final version. I mean, I thought everyone knew that...why are people confusing the Insider betas with the final product? Plus, if the Win10 beta program offends you, you can get all the "choice and control" you like with 8.1...so who forced you to join the Insiders beta OS testing program? I didn't quite catch that...What was it..."gun to the head", blackmail, what?...
Nobody put a gun to my head - and even at that, I'll be as fussy, picky, demanding, choice-conscious, and selective as I like to be; thank you very much. :). I won't just take it from somebody no matter what the circumstances. Sure, Microsoft may not owe me anything, but I'm not indebted to them either.

Nobody forces me to buy XYZ car, but I'll still cry warranty if the brakes are troublesome. You betcha!
