Mystere, I don't know why but your post came up for a few seconds even though you're on my ignore list. You once asked me not to put words in your mouth. Now I'm asking that you to not tell me what I'm thinking. We will never see eye to eye so if you would please put me on your ignore list.

Well put.. but people in general have to worry about things I guess. And what's this about MS updates.. gee if they're that bad why use Windows in the first place.. "get a mac"..
You paying? :) I have no desire to own a mac. I have used Linux years ago and driver support was very limited. I like Windows. I even like Windows 10. I just don't like the idea of MS not allowing us to choose what updates we install. The sky is not fall and the world is not going to stop spinning just because of Windows 10. As for worrying about the changes. It's better to speak up now then wait til it's to late. Remember the squeaky wheel gets the grease. :)

. . .OMG. . . the sky is falling, the sky is falling. . .look out everyone Microsoft is going t make the sky fall. . .Oh wait you really mean I don't have to use Windows 10, here I thought it was a requirement that all folks in the whole world had to use, or move to Windows 10 or our computers would just stop working even my Mac. . .how silly of me. . .
MS is trying to take over the world..no wait that's Google..I will take any update that they send to me. The only way is to purchase a Business License. Business's will have a choice we will not. If you don't like the way MS is doing this then stay with Seven or Xp or whatever.

Right now I'm about 90% for upgrading to Windows 10 and 10% for going back to Windows 8.1.1. At one time I was 100% for upgrading to 10. If I do decide to upgrade to 10 I'm not going to upgrade all my computers like I originally planned.

The way I read it, even if you have Pro, you need access to Windows Update for Business to pick and chose. AKA updates via a business network. This is a deal breaker for me if I have to accept every update listed under Windows update. Especially if driver updates fall under that.
That is the way I read it too.

From what I have read and M$ track record on updates it is a deal breaker for me also. Most non geeks will not even notice or care but I want a system that is stable.
They won't care, until their device is bricked.

What makes you think that MS is going to "brick" our devices??

Do you have a problem with Chrome forcing you to upgrade it when a new version comes out?
People who use Chrome (God only knows why) would have an issue with an update that renders it useless.
For Windows users that would only be an inconvenience as you could use IE (or another browser) until the issue was fixed.

OTOH, if your OS is bricked you are "s*** out of luck".

I know you think it won't work correctly, but why assume that before it's even had a chance to prove that the new model is good or bad?
Based on MS' record over the past couple of years, there will be dodgy updates.

Do you even read the problems people post on the Windows forums (e.g. Black Screen of Death, Perpetual Reboot Loop, etc.)?

There are stacks of threads related to people being unable to boot their machines after dodgy updates.
It even happens after non-dodgy updates (due to other glitches or issues with their PCs coincidentally occurring during the update process).

I assume you weren't paying attention during the "W8 to W8.1" saga either.

I never said the updates won't work correctly. I don't like being forced to accept updates that I don't want. If I decide to upgrade to Windows 10 MS may be able to force me to accept updates but they can't force me like it.
