This doesn't sound to good to me.
Still.. I don't think that it's a big deal to me right now.. I'll stick to my wait and see approach. :)
I suppose what I like to do is plan well ahead for things. I do that with lots of things (system upgrades, buying a new car, buying an audio component), only because once I've planned things to a T, then I just roll out the plan.
Plus right now, Windows 10 IS a lot of speculation, but that's what makes it interesting.
My distallation of info/speculation culled from various sources on the net.
Seven versions of Windows 10
Home - Mobile - Pro - Enterprise - Education (upgrade of Pro) -Mobile Enterprise - Other (for unique devices say ATM,s
Home - Mobile, will have upgrades all pushed with no choice.
Pro - Enterprise -Education ( Classed as business Use) etc. will have greater control of updates (one assumes the ability to refuse them).
The issue for me arises over which free upgrade will be offered if upgrading Win 7 Home premium whether it will be to home or pro. I have a couple of notebooks running home premium. Win 7 Pro desktops are obviously OK.
The reason for my concern is that if pushed I will continue to get driver updates that fail every day as is the case with my GTS450 graphics driver.
We need to await the pricing around upgrades from home to pro if 7 home premium upgrades to 10 home.

LOL I remember demanding REAL Coke for months until Coca Cola realized their stupidityYep M$ has not learned the New Coca Cola lesson yet.
So, who forced you to join the Insider program and install the beta OS? "Insiders" are all going to get Win10 RTM free, too, even if they don't own an upgrade OS. It's simple: they give you something, they ask for something back in return. Tit for Tat. It's part of the deal. If everyone was shutting updates down there'd be things they would be unable to test on a wide scale, so they disable the disable-updates setting in WU. Don't like it? Fine, go back to 8.1 until 10 ships--then install 10 and you can do as you like with the updates, right? If you are a registered "Insider" you will still get Win 10 free whether you continue testing or you don't. I don't know why, but a lot of people act like the Insiders program is something they paid good money for and that Win10's a finished product.
This is what I mean... "Choice and control"...? Oh, come on... You are testing a *beta* OS and as such it has many limitations the final version won't have. You'll get all the choice and control you want in the final version. I mean, I thought everyone knew that...why are people confusing the Insider betas with the final product? Plus, if the Win10 beta program offends you, you can get all the "choice and control" you like with 8.1...so who forced you to join the Insiders beta OS testing program? I didn't quite catch that...What was it..."gun to the head", blackmail, what?...
The first post
There are going to be three Windows 10 servicing branches when the product launches: Current Branch (CB), Current Branch for Business (CBB) and Long Term Servicing Branch (LTSB). Different versions of Windows 10 will give users access to different servicing branches.
Those running Windows 10 Home will have just one choice -- the Current Branch. That means those users will have to take any new features, fixes and security updates that Microsoft pushes to them via Windows Update. (They will be pushed after Windows Insiders and Microsoft itself tests them.) Windows 10 Home users won't have the option of delaying or deferring anything. And for many consumers, that will be OK, if not welcome.
No - It depends on the version Installed.
Not even MS would presume to force feature changes on major enterprises. That would ensure a backlash greater than that which the original Win 8 garnered.
Sorry Paul I posted this before I read you post above which clarified your statement. I reacted to your one liner.
