I'm getting that red Settings message when I click on Windows Insider Program on my Insider computer but not when I did a test visit to the same place on my RTM AU machine.

You forgot all KN versions, Enterprise LTSB and Pro Education editions.
I wasn't sure what the KN versions were, so I didn't include them.

So there are 2 different Education (32 & 64 bit) and Enterprise (32 & 64 bit) versions as well?

The core code for all of those versions is still the same.
    Exactly.
So how is what I suggested any different?

All of the controversial code could be treated the same as other "Windows Features".
The Free version wouldn't allow users to disable the controversial code (i.e. Activation fails if the code has been removed or tampered with).

KN versions are for Korean markets, without media features plus some pre-set shortcuts on desktop to specific Korean sites.

There is surprisingly little information available at the moment about the new Pro Education edition. It is mentioned for instance in this article:
Windows 10 for Education (Windows 10)

The Enterprise LTSB (Long Time Servicing Branch) however is well documented. According to Microsoft it "enables long-term deployment of selected Windows 10 releases in low-change configurations"
(see Windows 10 servicing options for updates and upgrades (Windows 10))

Is there some new maintenance task ? All run commands from the list that stayed unchanged since W7 thru all updates and upgrades are gone !! New ones entered are staying there.
I don't use any cleaners including CCleaner. Haven't used Disk cleaner lately either.

Did you see that I said "rarely" as in they did do it??
I missed that and now that I think about it a little more I seem to rember sometime before the AU when we were geting a lot if builds frequently getting one on a Saturday that may be the one I thinking was a Friday flight .

If I don't check WU or the web it may be available for a day or so before I download it unless it downloads in the background from a WU check or just because it does and I don't know its here................ must be showing my dotage

It sure is.. I have it in a dual boot due to all of the bugs.
Good idea ...... that saved my bacon more than once . I like having a stable OS to fall back on it's an imperative here IMO .

I'm sure many of us that have been an Insider for awhile have done that.

I used to dual boot with two NTFS volumes on the same spindle HDD on my old test mule -daily grinder until I added an SSD for the test builds I drive daily .

That SSD is now re configured from MBR-NTFS to GPT -NTFS for UFEI . I used (diskpart & drive manager ) and it is the 14905 boot drive I'm on now .

On the 6 year old old test mule with the fried AM3 mainbaord now it was under SATA II 3 Gb/s there is no SATA III 6 Gb/s on that OEM board.

In this brand new Haswell Core i5 destop ofc. it's on SATA III 6 Gb/s and about twice as fast in most respects because of that as one would expect . That being said it was still a very good upgrade on the old PC .

SATA III 6Gb/s SSD in here now :)
