Surface Pro 4: The impact of Windows 10

It's not exactly a secret that Microsoft's Surface Pro 3 has been selling well; the brand hit a billion dollars for the first time last year. With the Surface 3 now on sale, all eyes are turning towards the Surface Pro 4.

When you think about when the Pro 4 will be released, you need to look at Microsoft's other products for guidance; specifically Windows 10. If Microsoft is going to launch the Pro 4, it would seem reasonable to conclude that the device will ship with the company's latest OS and be the 'hero' device for the new software.

If we take this approach and other information that has been announced by Microsoft, we can paint a better picture than what is currently known about its release window.

Thanks for posting this, Shawn. :)

Some said MS devices (and services) would be a flop. Hmm. Looks to me that they're doing pretty good. Having a Lumia 1520 for awhile I can attest MS is making quality systems more efficient in use.

More on this later. Gotta get back to work....

    Hi there

I almost got "tossed off the board" a year ago when I said in spite of its cost that the Surface Pro 3 was a device that would prove extremely popular and was the first device IMO that could function quite easily as a full blown laptop (provided you had the keyboard and a docking station) and also a totally decently functional tablet type device.

I'm sure the surface pro 4 will prove just as popular. I'm thinking of getting a decent one when it appears --I already have a surface pro 3 --do I regret buying it --Not at all. As for expense it's probably not much more expensive than a high end laptop and certainly anybody buying apple products would be paying something similar.

It's NOT cheap -- so anybody looking at that end of the market will be disappointed - but if you want a really portable high powered competent device then surface pro 3 did what was required and the pro 4 will be (IMO) even better.

    Cheers
