There was "something" about the lifetime of the device in that statement though. I haven't been following that much since I'm unable to "upgrade" past build 9926. Does one get a key the W10 RTM??
No word on a key but I suspect that one will be handed out. The lifetime for the device is for future updates to Win10 after the RTM occurs.

Great news for me as well. It looks like I won't have to give up my license for either W7 or 8.1 Pro.

So how is this going to play out when RTM is available? Do I go to my Win 8.1 side and get the "free" upgrade or do I take it from the current Build side? And if I take it from the 8.1 side, how do they know I'm an Insider?

I'm curious what the steps will be so we don't lose the version that they are making available to us.

The way i'm seeing it play out is you upgrade from TP to RTM from the TP side of a dual boot, then from there get the ESD for it and make an ISO to clean install RTM, then you get a key somehow (maybe using something like Magic Jellybean?) out of the OS, and that's your key and you have a license of 10 RTM.

If you upgrade from the Win7/8.1 side of a dual boot then you lose your 7/8.1 license. Thats what I understand of it.

Time to purchase a license of 8.1 Pro (i've just been using OEM 8.1 Core licenses that came with my PCs) so I have retail 8.1 and 7, and i'm a student so get the discount, and get 10 TP installed on my main machine in a dual boot with 7, so then I have 10 licenses for both PCs.

    Great news!!

    How long ...

I wonder how long we will have to "claim" our free copy?
My current motherboard is 5 years old, so it will probably die a few minutes after installing W10 on it.

Abe did follow his first comment up with:

"You'll have to be upgrading from a system with a valid license for 7 or 8.x."

And it looks like it must be done within one year.

That does clear it up.. upgrade from the TP to the RTM using a valid license.,

Pretty much the same as a clean install of RTM just using a valid existing product key then. Still just as good for me, I've got a few spare licenses knocking about.
